Role Snapshot

Regional Facilitator who provides tobacco use prevention services to youth, families, and community members across eastern Kentucky counties. Works to implement evidence-based prevention education and youth empowerment initiatives through the #iCANendthetrend framework.

Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with schools, community organizations, and civic groups to deliver tobacco prevention education and awareness programs on youth tobacco use and e-cigarettes. Implement peer-to-peer prevention programs and facilitate orientation sessions for parents, teachers, and school administrators in target areas.
Skills & Tools: Strong communication and facilitation skills for engaging diverse audiences including youth, parents, educators, and community members. Ability to work independently in multiple counties, reliable transportation, and capacity to translate prevention frameworks into effective community-based programs.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; no prior knowledge of tobacco use or public health needed as comprehensive training is provided. Experience working with youth, community organizations, or public health initiatives preferred.
Location: In-Person
Compensation: $38K–$52K/yr (estimated)

Job Description

NOTE: No prior knowledge on the topic of tobacco use or public health is needed. The program will provide comprehensive training.

NOTE: The position may be used to fulfill practicum hours if needed.

Position Objective: To provide tobacco use prevention services to youth, families and community members across Kentucky.

Position Description: Supervised by the Program Director, the Youth Prevention Specialist works in schools and communities to facilitate tobacco use prevention services based on the #iCANendthetrend framework, which include:

1. Prevention Education
2. Information Dissemination
3. Youth Empowerment
4. Professional Development

Position Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with schools, parent-teacher groups, civic organizations, church groups, and other youth and community organizations in eastern KY counties to provide information and awareness on youth tobacco use, including e-cigarettes.

• Implement peer-to-peer prevention program to provide information and awareness on youth tobacco use, including e-cigarettes.

• Assist in providing orientation or information sessions for parents, teachers, staff or administrators in target area school and community sites when requested.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director to meet program objectives.
