Position Overview

We’re seeking a Founding Academic Sourcer to help build and maintain a strong, diverse pipeline of instructor and teaching assistant candidates for Campus’s growing academic programs.

This is the first dedicated sourcing role on the Academic Recruiting team, with high ownership over how we identify, engage, and pipeline instructors and teaching assistants (TAs) nationwide. You’ll report to the Academic Operations, People & Recruiting Manager and partner closely with the Academic Recruiting Associates to define sourcing strategies, build repeatable processes, and ensure a steady flow of high-quality candidates into our faculty network.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in ambiguity, building systems where none exist yet, and making a visible impact on how an organization scales its academic hiring.

What You'll Do

Foundational Sourcing & Strategy

  • Design and own Campus’s academic sourcing strategy across instructors and TAs.
  • Identify priority institutions, programs, professional networks, and communities for sourcing academic and industry-aligned talent.
  • Build and maintain proactive pipelines across key subject areas (e.g., business, software engineering, general education).
  • Partner with recruiting and academic leadership to forecast upcoming hiring needs and pipeline coverage.

Outreach & Early Engagement

  • Execute high-volume, high-quality outbound outreach via email, LinkedIn, referrals, professor pages, and academic networks.
  • Craft and test outreach messaging that reflects Campus’s mission, instructional model, and faculty value proposition.
  • Conduct initial qualification screens or early-stage intake steps before handoff to the recruiting team.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for many faculty and TA candidates, representing Campus with clarity and warmth.

Systems, Tools & Process Building

  • Build and maintain sourcing workflows, templates, and documentation from scratch.
  • Own candidate tracking, tagging, and handoff processes within the ATS or sourcing tools.
  • Establish sourcing metrics and reporting (e.g., outreach volume, response rates, pipeline health by subject).
  • Recommend and help implement sourcing tools, automation, or data improvements as the function matures.

Equity-Focused & Long-Term Pipeline Development

  • Embed inclusive sourcing practices into all strategies and outreach efforts.
  • Build long-term relationships with potential faculty candidates, even when no immediate opening exists.
  • Support advisory board and industry partner sourcing as needed.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner closely with the Academic Recruiting Associate to ensure seamless handoffs from sourcing to interview stages.
  • Share insights on talent market trends, hard-to-fill roles, and emerging sourcing channels.
  • Continuously iterate on sourcing strategies based on outcomes and organizational needs.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-2 years of experience in sourcing, recruiting, research, or talent acquisition roles
  • Experience using Ashby and LinkedIn Recruiter
  • Comfortable being the “first” and building structure in an evolving environment
  • Strong research instincts and ability to identify non-obvious, high-potential candidates
  • Confident in outbound outreach and relationship-building
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and data-driven
  • Clear written communication skills and strong professional judgment
  • Motivated by mission-driven work and expanding access to high-quality education

Location: New York City (NYC In-office Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)

What You'll Get

A compensation package that includes a base salary ($55K - $70K) + equity grant

  • Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location. For roles that are available to be filled remotely, base salary is localized according to employee work location.
