Summary

Support the development and optimization of AI/ML student response modeling systems by analyzing educational assessment data and building statistical models to predict question difficulty. This role contributes to improving online testing platforms used by millions of students annually.

Key Responsibilities: Analyze large datasets of student responses to identify difficulty patterns, develop and validate statistical models for student performance, collaborate with assessment specialists to incorporate domain expertise, and document methodology for stakeholder communication.
Skills & Tools: Proficiency in Python programming (pandas, transformers), statistical modeling and machine learning techniques, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and preferred understanding of educational assessment concepts.
Qualifications: Currently enrolled as a graduate student in Data Science, Education, or related field with proven Python programming skills and experience in statistical modeling and machine learning.
Location: United States
Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation for this role is $18–$25/hour based on title, seniority, and location.

Job Description

Job Overview:

We are seeking an AI/ML Research intern to support our team in developing and optimizing student response modeling systems. The intern will be using machine learning and statistical approaches, and focusing on difficulty modeling across various assessment types.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyze large datasets of student responses to identify patterns in question difficulty
  • Develop and validate statistical models to student responses
  • Collaborate with assessment specialists to incorporate subject matter expertise
  • Document methodology and findings for stakeholder communication

Internship Requirements:

  • Current graduate student in Data Science, Education, or related fields
  • Proven Python programming skills (pandas, transformers)
  • Experience with statistical modeling and machine learning
  • Understanding of educational assessment concepts preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
