Summary

Systems Engineer Intern at OCLC supporting internal IT infrastructure and enterprise systems across the Integrated Internal Services team. The role involves standardizing endpoint configurations, automating routine tasks, and improving security posture across the organization.

Key Responsibilities: Assist in endpoint configuration standardization using AI and automation tools, develop and maintain automation scripts, remediate security vulnerabilities, and support enterprise collaboration tools. Collect progress reports, maintain documentation, and collaborate with partnering teams to improve processes and user experience.
Skills & Tools: Strong understanding of Windows desktop and familiarity with MacOS operating systems, proficiency in PowerShell or Python scripting, and advanced Excel skills. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork abilities with enthusiasm for learning new technologies.
Qualifications: Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a computer science, information technology, or related field with foundational knowledge of operating systems and scripting concepts. No specific years of prior experience required for internship level.
Location: Dublin, Ohio, United States (Hybrid - 3 days in-office)
Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation for this role is $18.00 – $24.00/hour based on title, seniority, and location.

This internship is anything but ordinary. If that’s what you’re looking for, keep reading. We are looking for a Systems Engineer Intern to join our team from May 19 to August 8. This is a full-time role during our summer hours, offering a hybrid work environment with three days in-office at our headquarters in Dublin, Ohio.


You will work on our Integrated Internal Services team which maintains internal IT infrastructure to support company operations. We work across a broad range of technologies including endpoint administration, identity management, collaboration tools, and product support.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in project to standardize endpoint configurations across the organization.
  • Utilize AI and automation tools to process data and achieve configuration goals.
  • Collect and present reports on standardization progress.
  • Assist in remediation of security vulnerabilities, analyze opportunities to improve security posture.
  • Develop and maintain scripts to automate routine tasks and improve system efficiency.
  • Provide insights into areas of improvement and potential risks.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Attend IIS team meetings, participate in relevant workshops, and contribute to team discussions.
  • Collaborate with partnering teams to improve processes and end user experience.
  • Assist in supporting enterprise collaboration tools to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of Windows desktop operating system (familiarity with Windows Server OS a plus).
  • Familiarity with MacOS.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell or Python scripting.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and applying new technologies.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment.
