HVAC Supervisor at Old Dominion University oversees maintenance and repair operations for all heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration systems across campus facilities. This essential personnel role ensures optimal equipment performance and emergency readiness while managing mechanical shop operations.

Key Responsibilities: Supervise HVAC mechanics and utilities servicemen in maintenance and repairs of boilers, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment. Operate and reprogram energy management control systems efficiently and provide mechanical shop guidance in the superintendent's absence.
Skills & Tools: Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, boilers, and refrigeration equipment; proficiency with energy management control systems and programming. Demonstrated supervisory and leadership abilities, troubleshooting skills, and ability to work under emergency conditions.
Qualifications: Typically requires 5-7 years of HVAC experience with 2-3 years in a supervisory or lead role, plus relevant technical certification or apprenticeship completion. Associate degree in HVAC technology or equivalent trade certification (EPA Section 608 refrigerant certification required).
Location: In-Person
Compensation: $55K–$75K/yr (estimated)

Job Description

Provide supervision to HVAC mechanics and trades/utilities servicemen in maintenance and repairs of all boilers, heating, air conditioning, and ventilation and refrigeration equipment. Provide the mechanical shops guidance in the absence of the superintendent. To operate and re-program energy management control system in an efficient manner. This position is designated "essential personnel" for emergency closings.
