Summary

Physician Clinical Executive at Elsevier providing clinical expertise to drive sales of innovative healthcare solutions to provider organizations. This role supports sales teams in identifying, qualifying, and closing business through consultative, solution-based approaches.

Key Responsibilities: Support sales executives by providing clinical and product expertise, delivering presentations to customers and prospects, and participating in sales training initiatives. Monitor competitive activity and industry trends, collect customer feedback, and support thought leadership initiatives including speaking engagements and white paper development.
Skills & Tools: Proven clinical experience in healthcare IT and Clinical Informatics, strong analytical abilities, excellent presentation skills, and proficiency with Windows, MS Office, and CRM tools. Consultative approach to partnerships and ability to communicate complex clinical concepts to sales and customer audiences.
Qualifications: MD or DO degree with unrestricted state medical license required; board certification preferred with Clinical Informatics experience ideal. Proven track record of success in healthcare industry with HIT and Clinical Informatics experience, plus ability to travel approximately 30% of the time.

About the Role

The Clinical Solutions Division of Elsevier is seeking a Physician Clinical Executive for the portfolio solutions encompassing physician workflows and performance for the healthcare provider marketplace. This individual should possessexceptional clinical, healthcare industry, HIT and Clinical Informatics experience; Clinical Solutions portfolio knowledge; and a proven track record of success. This position will be responsible for providing clinical expertise to support sales executives responsible for generating revenue growth for Elsevier’s Clinical solutions in provider organizations that utilize partner EMR systems across North America.

Responsibilities

  • Providing the necessary clinical and product expertise to achieve all sales goals by supporting the team in identifying, qualifying, and closing business through the utilization of a solution-based, consultative approach at customer and prospect opportunities
  • Working closely with our Value-Added Resellers Sales team to promote the sale of Clinical Solutions through our channel partners
  • Monitoring and reporting competitive activity and industry trends, and sharing this information with Marketing, Product Development and Sales Academy teams to develop and improve our Elsevier Clinical Solutions portfolio and advance sales team knowledge
  • Active participation in New Hire training and sales training initiatives, in conjunction with the Sales Academy.
  • Actively participate in the collection of customer feedback and outcomes and distribution of findings within key internal Elsevier stakeholder groups     
  • Providing clinical support and product expertise to potential Elsevier customers utilizing existing EMR partners in North America with the goal of expediting the sale of Clinical solutions offerings.
  • Developing and delivering highly effective Clinical Solutions presentations for customers and prospects
  • Participating in the planning of and attend assigned client meetings and tradeshows
  • Participating in the collection and distribution of baseline outcome measures that will be used to track Elsevier product value as identified by Marketing, Content, Product and Sales leadership
  • Supporting thought leadership initiatives including participating in National forums as speaker or moderator and assisting Marketing in generating relevant White Papers

Requirements

  • Have proven clinical experience as well as experience in HIT and Clinical Informatics
  • Have the ability to meet travel requirements of the position, estimated at 30% of working time.
  • Possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree
  • Have at least one active, unrestricted and verifiable state medical license
  • Possess current Board Certification, preferably in a Primary Care specialty. In addition, Clinical Informatics Board certification is a plus
  • Display exceptional reading, writing, speaking and listening and interpersonal skills. Speechworks or Visionworks experience a plus
  • Have a working knowledge of Windows & MS Office (Excel & Windows), FHIR, HL-7, as well as networks, internet applications and Sales Force CRM tools
  • Have proven experience with a variety of Clinical Solutions products, including a working knowledge of EMRs
  • Have extraordinaryanalytical and skills to include the ability to prepare and present relevant summaries of complex materials
  • Have the ability to work flexible hours in accordance with the demands of the position.This may include evenings and weekends to accommodate sales and promotional activities such as trade shows

  • This position can be based out of most US metropolitan areas with easy access to a major airport. 
  • The position reports to the Senior Director of Clinical Executives.
