Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Product Designer to create intuitive, elegant, and functional experiences across our K–12 digital learning products. As part of the Product-Led Growth (PLG) Design Team, this role partners with Product Management, Engineering, Research, Curriculum, and Data to deliver engaging, accessible, and easy-to-navigate experiences for students, educators, and administrators.
The Product Designer contributes to the end-to-end design process—from understanding user needs and defining interaction models to prototyping, testing, and refining solutions. Success in this role requires strong systems thinking, a user-centered mindset, and the ability to translate complex problems into simple, scalable experiences that balance user needs with business goals and technical constraints. This role has no formal people-management responsibilities.
In This Role You Will:
Product & Experience Design• Solve complex problems through simple, elegant, and accessible user experiences• Design user-centered solutions that improve learning, teaching, and administrative workflows across K–12 environments• Translate product requirements and user insights into wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs• Define information architecture, interaction patterns, and end-to-end user flows for multiple personas
Collaboration & Agile Execution• Partner with Product Managers and Engineers in Agile workstreams to deliver sprint outcomes and business objectives• Collaborate with researchers and data partners to translate qualitative and quantitative insights into design decisions• Participate in critiques by sharing work, giving and receiving feedback, and contributing to strong design practices and shared standards• Document and deliver clear design specifications, assets, and annotations to support efficient development handoff
Systems Thinking & Design Consistency• Apply and contribute to the Discovery Education design system and component library• Ensure visual, interaction, and accessibility consistency across features and platforms• Design solutions that scale across devices and support diverse and international audiences
User Insight & Continuous Improvement• Support and conduct user research (e.g., surveys, interviews, usability testing) to identify needs and validate concepts• Synthesize research, feedback, and data insights into clear problem statements and design opportunities• Iterate through prototyping and testing, refining designs based on performance data and customer feedback• Balance user needs with business objectives and technical constraints

Credentials and Experience:• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field, or equivalent practical experience• 3+ years of experience designing digital products (SaaS preferred) in an Agile development environment• Proficiency with modern product design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma) and collaboration/handoff workflows (e.g., Jira, Confluence, or similar)• Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices (e.g., WCAG)• Experience designing complex workflows and multi-persona experiences• Experience supporting and conducting user research and usability testing• Portfolio demonstrating strong product thinking, design process, and impact• Experience partnering with Product and Engineering teams to deliver production-ready solutions• Legal right to work in the United States
