Summary

Join OCLC as a UX Accessibility Intern this summer to evaluate product interfaces for accessibility compliance and contribute to innovative AI projects that enhance library services worldwide.

Key Responsibilities: Evaluate OCLC product interfaces for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines compliance, conduct user research, collaborate with UX/UI designers and QA teams to flag accessibility issues, and participate in a dynamic AI capstone project.
Skills & Tools: Strong written and verbal communication, problem-solving and analytical abilities, familiarity with accessibility guidelines and best practices, and experience with AI technologies including practical application.
Qualifications: Must be currently enrolled as a student in a relevant degree program (HCI, Human Factors, Library/Information Sciences, or UX-related discipline). Software development experience and interest in library science are desirable but not required.
Location: Hybrid in Dublin, Ohio, United States (3 days in-office, full-time May 19 - August 8)
Compensation: $15.00 – $25.00/hour

The Job Details are as follows:

This internship is anything but ordinary. If that’s what you’re looking for, keep reading. We are looking for a UX Accessibility Intern to join our team from May 19 to August 8. This is a full-time role during our summer hours, offering a hybrid work environment with three days in-office at our headquarters in Dublin, Ohio.

You will participate in consultations with UX/UI designers, UX researchers, and the QA team to ensure accessibility is integrated into user interface updates. Your work will help enhance product accessibility for thousands of library members in over 100 countries. You'll also participate in a dynamic AI capstone project, exploring innovative solutions and contributing to our AI strategy. This is your chance to gain hands-on experience and make a meaningful impact!

Responsibilities

Intern responsibilities will focus on evaluating OCLC product interfaces’ conformance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, but may also include:

  • Involvement in end user research to explore, uncover, and analyze user requirements
  • Collaboration with senior user experience designer(s)
  • Working with product development, user experience, and user research teams to flag potential accessibility issues  
  • Participating in user story reviews to ensure that all aspects of accessibility requirements are identified
  • Participation on one or more teams on small to medium sized projects as an accessibility resource.
  • Participate in a dynamic AI capstone project, exploring innovative solutions and contributing to our AI strategy.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled as students at the time of the internship.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytic skills 
  • Strong familiarity with accessibility guidelines and best practices
  • Experience with AI technologies, including practical application in projects or coursework.
  • Excellent team-interaction skills 

Desired, but not required

  • Software development experience or exposure (for team collaboration)
  • Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Library or Information Sciences, or a User Experience related discipline 
  • An interest in library science and/or reading technologies
