The Security Operations Manager leads the Security Operations Center (SOC) and oversees incident response, security monitoring, and detection tools to enhance the University's cybersecurity posture. This role maintains robust security measures across IT services while supporting the organization's broader security objectives.
Key Responsibilities: Day-to-day responsibilities include managing the SOC team, overseeing incident response procedures, adjusting firewall rules, handling eDiscovery requests, providing security logs to external requestors, and ensuring the effectiveness of security monitoring and detection tools.
Skills & Tools: Required skills include incident response management, SOC operations, firewall administration, security monitoring and detection tools proficiency, and strong leadership and communication abilities. Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and experience with log analysis and external compliance requests are essential.
Qualifications: Typically requires a bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information technology, or related field with 5+ years of experience in security operations or incident response roles. Prior experience managing security teams or SOC environments is preferred.

Compensation: $95Kβ$135K/yr (estimated)

The Security Operations Manager will lead and manage the Security Operations team in maintaining and enhancing the University's security operations. This position supports the University's cybersecurity initiatives by overseeing the SOC, managing incident response, and ensuring the effectiveness of security monitoring and detection tools. The Security Operations Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day security activities, such as firewall rule adjustments, eDiscovery, providing logs to external requestors, and other essential security functions. This role contributes to the department's objective by maintaining robust security measures and supporting the high quality and reliability of services offered by ITS and across the University.
