Summary

Mid- to senior-level full stack software engineer on the FinTech product team at Veracross, a SaaS-based School Information Systems provider. You'll design and build tools that empower schools to ensure financial access and affordability for families while leveraging AI-assisted development.

Key Responsibilities: Build and enhance front-end applications using Vue.js and back-end services with Ruby on Rails; use AI agents and copilots to generate components, debug issues, write tests, and optimize performance across the stack. Skills & Tools: Strong proficiency in Ruby, Ruby on Rails, SQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Vue.js including component architecture and state management; ability to troubleshoot complex full-stack challenges and embrace AI-assisted development as an engineering partner.
Qualifications: Mid- to senior-level experience as a full stack engineer with demonstrated expertise in the required tech stack and ability to mentor teammates. Experience integrating with third-party systems commonly used by K-12 schools is beneficial.

About the Role:

This is a mid‑ to senior‑level full‑time software engineering position on our FinTech product

engineering team. As an individual contributor, youʼll help design, build, and enhance our

product suite of tools that empower schools to ensure access and affordability for families from

diverse economic backgrounds, promote equity, and support enrollment goals.

Weʼre looking for a Full Stack Engineer who is deeply experienced with Ruby, Ruby on Rails,

SQL, and Vue.js, and who embraces AI‑assisted development to move faster, think bigger,

and ship smarter. This role is ideal for someone who treats AI as a true engineering partner—

using agentic tools to automate repetitive tasks, refactor legacy code, and reason through

complex full‑stack challenges.

What to Expect:

  • Contribute meaningfully to the FinTech team at both the individual and team level.
  • Build a new set of product fucntionality to suppoort the product ask while moving the core platform into the next generation of technologies in a meaninful way.
  • Improve, maintain, and expand our front‑end applications (Vue.js and other legacy frameworks) and Ruby on Rails back‑end services.
  • Use AI agents and copilots to generate components, debug issues, write tests, and optimize performance across the stack.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to teammates.
  • Collaborate closely with product and design, using AI tools to translate specifications into working features and iterate quickly.
  • Integrate with other product areas, including our Student Information System, Admissions, and Fundraising platforms.
  • Enhance internal tools and developer workflows through automation and intelligent tooling.
  • Assist in documenting systems, architecture, and engineering processes.
  • Integrate with third‑party systems commonly used by private K‑12 schools.
  • Strong proficiency in Ruby, Ruby on Rails, SQL, Javascript/Typscript, and Vue.js (including component architecture, state management, and composition patterns).
  • Ability to troubleshoot data flow, performance, and integration issues across the stack.
  • Experience using AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Codeium, or custom agents).
  • Comfort with prompt engineering and guiding AI toward high‑quality code generation.
  • Passion for developer productivity, clean code, and intelligent automation.
  • Familiarity with AI‑assisted test generation and coverage analysis.
  • Experience using AI agents for code reviews, documentation generation, and refactoring.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical organization and planning abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, mostly asynchronous environment.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset.
  • 4+ years of professional programming experience.
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL query optimization.
  • Experience with source control, especially Git/GitHub.
  • A service‑oriented, team‑first approach to engineering.
  • Authorization to work in the United States

Nice to Haves

  • Experience building or consuming RESTful APIs and doing partner integrations.
  • Advanced SQL and relational database optimization techniques.
  • Experience in modenization of legacy stacks and moving incrimenrally to new technologies.
  • Understanding of backend architecture and how it influences front‑end performance and UX.
  • Familiarity with AWS services, especially ECS for containerized deployments.
  • Experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tooling.
  • Experience in FinTech, Banking or other industries in the fintech domain

Salary at Veracross is determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience. The compensation range for this position is $90k to $150k (annualized USD) in addition to potential bonus.
