Summary

Financial Planning and Analysis Associate supporting Duolingo's rapid growth and profitability by delivering financial insights and strategic partnerships across multiple departments. This role directly impacts executive decision-making and board-level communications for a high-growth edtech company with 500M+ users.

Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain financial models for forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning; analyze variance drivers against internal forecasts and communicate findings to cross-functional partners. Create compelling financial analyses and high-profile materials for board presentations, earnings calls, and senior executives.
Skills & Tools: Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets with strong financial modeling capabilities; excellent structured thinking, attention to detail, and ability to synthesize complex analysis into clear, actionable insights. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to create polished presentations in Google Slides and PowerPoint for senior audiences.
Qualifications: 2-4 years of relevant experience in investment banking or FP&A at a high-growth technology company. Preferred experience includes subscription/digital goods business models, Workday Adaptive Planning, public company earnings cycles, or similar platforms.
Location: New York, NY
Compensation: Estimated: $95,000 – $130,000/year based on FP&A associate role at high-growth public tech company in New York with 2-4 years required experience.

About the role...

The FP&A team at Duolingo is looking for a highly motivated finance professional to join us in supporting our company mission through delivering financial insights and effective partnerships. In this role, you will work closely with our FP&A Director in partnering with a variety of teams around the company, including our People, Engineering, Marketing, Duolingo English Test, and other teams to support our continued rapid growth and profitability.

  • Develop and maintain financial models to support forecasting, earnings calls, strategic planning, and budgeting processes
  • Analyze, understand, and communicate variance drivers compared to our internal forecast
  • Synthesize complex financial analysis into easily digestible and actionable communications for our partners to support decision-making
  • Work with our cross-functional partners to create clarity, alignment, and a team environment across projects with financial implications for Duolingo
  • Contribute to high-profile materials for our board of directors, earnings calls, and senior executives

  • 2 - 4 years of relevant work experience in top-tier investment banking or FP&A at a high-growth technology company
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets. You take pride in your analytical and financial modeling skills and enjoy applying them to tackle highly complex business problems
  • Extraordinary attention to detail and an eye toward using the 80/20 rule to address problems
  • Demonstrating excellent judgment in ambiguous or new situations to reach a solution or recommended path forward
  • Structured thinking with a strong command of details that can be summarized into a compelling story to present relevant insights and conclusions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to create visually attractive, concise presentations for high-profile audiences in Google Slides and/or PowerPoint
