Summary

The On-Post Student Support Specialist provides personalized assistance and guidance to military-affiliated students at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, helping ensure their success through direct engagement and resource navigation at military education centers.

The On-Post Student Support Specialist plays a crucial role in the success of military-affiliated students by providing personalized assistance and guidance directly to military members, their family members and DoD civilians on military installations. This position is responsible for student acquisition through direct engagement with students in the Base Education Center. 

We're exclusively hiring in the Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri area. We strongly prefer candidates who are military veterans or spouses.

Primary/Key Responsibilities

  • Offer personalized programmatic information and student support during designated office hours on military installations, five days a week.
  • Serve as an initial point of contact for students, addressing concerns, enrollment questions, and resource navigation.
  • Direct students to the appropriate support resources based on their needs, such as referring them to their Single Point of Contact Student Success Manager for enrollment, registration, and funding assistance throughout their tenure at Purdue Global (PG). Academic issues are referred to faculty, while other concerns are directed to relevant PG resources to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly live virtual interactive faculty-led classes to point students to Purdue Global resources.   
  • Assist students in navigating online learning platforms, accessing tutoring resources, and understanding academic policies and requirements.
  • Advocate for student success by proactively identifying challenges and directing to appropriate resources to deliver solutions to enhance retention and engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions and support provided to track progress and identify trends in student needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, student affairs, or a related field is preferred, but not required. 
  • 1+ year of experience supporting military personnel, whether through direct work in military education offices or through personal experience as a military spouse with an understanding of military life.
  • Experience in academic advising, student support services, or higher education administration.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with military education benefits, policies, and challenges faced by service members and their families.
  • Experience working with military-affiliated students or within higher education student support services.
  • Proficiency in online learning platforms and virtual communication tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse student populations.

For full-time positions, Kaplan has two Salary Grades, this position is Salary Grade A: $31,200 to $78,600. Actual compensation for this role is determined by several factors including but not limited to job level, candidate's skills, experience, and education, among other factors determined by the business.
