Summary

School Psychologist at StrongMind responsible for conducting psychological evaluations, ensuring special education compliance, and facilitating student intervention processes in a virtual/hybrid charter school environment. The role impacts special education eligibility determinations and student behavioral and academic support across Arizona.

Key Responsibilities: Review special education files for compliance, administer and score psychometric assessments, complete evaluation reports, facilitate Student Intervention Team meetings, oversee contracted psychologist evaluations, and develop functional assessments and behavior intervention plans. Provide training to staff and families while collaborating with internal and external agencies to support comprehensive student services.
Skills & Tools: Expertise in psychometric assessment administration, scoring, and interpretation; strong knowledge of special education regulations and compliance. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with ability to handle multiple tasks, maintain confidentiality, and work effectively in diverse, sometimes contentious situations.
Qualifications: Valid Arizona Standard School Psychologist Prekindergarten–12 Certificate and completion of a graduate degree in School Psychology required; at least 5 years of experience as a School Psychologist preferred.
Location: Chandler, Arizona, United States; in-state travel may be required.
Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation for this role is $65,000 – $85,000/year based on title, seniority, and location.

Job Description

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Review special education files for newly enrolled students to determine compliance with state and federal regulations, as it pertains to eligibility determinations.
  • Facilitate the review of existing data with Student Intervention Team (SIT).
  • Co-facilitate the Student Intervention Team (SIT).
  • Oversee the evaluation process being conducted by outside contracted psychologists.
  • Administer assessments related to special education eligibility determinations face-to-face or virtually.
  • Score, analyze and interpret intellectual, academic, social/emotional/behavioral and other psychometric assessments.
  • Complete initial and triennial review evaluation reports and facilitate associated meetings.
  • Provide insight into the development of functional assessments and behavior intervention plans.
  • Provide trainings to special education staff, students, and families on related topics.
  • Coordinate and/or collaborate with a range of individuals/agencies to promote and provide comprehensive services to students and families.

Education/Training/Experience/Professional Requirements:

  • Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Identity Verified Prints (IVP) fingerprint card
  • Valid Arizona Standard School Psychologist, Prekindergarten – 12 Certificate
  • Completion of a Graduate degree in School Psychology
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a School Psychologist position preferred

Environmental Conditions:

Usual office setting. Travel within the state of Arizona may be required.
