The Media Producer is responsible for capturing high-quality multimedia content, including video, audio, graphics, and supporting assets, in both in-studio and remote production environments.
This role requires a highly autonomous, technically proficient producer who can independently plan, execute, and manage recording sessions from setup through capture. The Media Producer will lead in-person studio recordings at the Centennial, CO location and oversee remote recording sessions with subject-matter experts using industry-standard platforms.
A strong working knowledge of production hardware, software, and end-to-end media workflows is required. The ideal candidate is comfortable owning technical decisions on set, maintaining studio systems, and continuously improving capture quality through evolving tools and techniques, including AI-enabled production technologies.
This position is best suited for a pragmatic, resourceful professional who is confident directing on-camera talent and delivering polished, engaging educational video content.
Primary/Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a solo on-set operator, independently managing camera operation, lighting, audio capture, framing, and basic set styling.
- Lead in-studio recording sessions with subject-matter experts, ensuring a professional, efficient, and high-quality production experience.
- Manage remote recording sessions using platforms such as Riverside, Zoom, OBS, or similar tools, ensuring reliable technical setup and optimal capture quality.
- Coach on-camera talent to support clear, confident, and engaging delivery aligned with project goals.
- Monitor and adjust lighting, audio levels, and framing in real time to maintain established production standards.
- Own shoot timelines and independently troubleshoot technical issues as they arise during live production.
- Manage media ingest, file transfer, organization, backup, and handoff to post-production teams.
- Apply a working understanding of the full video production lifecycle, from pre-production preparation through post-production delivery.
Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., learning designers, editors, and project managers) to understand content objectives, audience needs, and visual direction.
- Communicate proactively with on-camera talent prior to shoots, including conducting remote technical walkthroughs when required.
- Maintain the physical studio space, production equipment, and remote recording kits to ensure readiness and reliability.
- Utilize Adobe Creative Cloud tools, primarily Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, for light editing, troubleshooting, or reference exports as needed.
- Contribute ideas and experimentation related to production efficiency, quality improvements, and responsible use of AI-assisted tools in media capture workflows.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Media Production, Film, Communications or equivalent experience.
- 2 years of experience in studio production
- Video Production Skills & On-Set Operations: Demonstrated ability to independently operate professional video production equipment, including cameras, lighting, audio, and studio hardware, with confidence serving as a solo on-set producer.
- Technical Systems & Software Proficiency: Working knowledge of industry-standard production and recording tools, including Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro and After Effects), remote capture platforms (e.g., Riverside, Zoom, OBS), and file management and backup systems.
- Production Workflow & Problem Solving: Strong understanding of end-to-end video production workflows, from pre-production setup through post-production handoff, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues in real time and manage multiple priorities independently.
- Communication, Coaching & Innovation: Proven ability to communicate clearly with subject-matter experts, coach on-camera talent, and contribute to continuous improvement of production quality through adoption of new tools, including AI-enabled technologies; no formal certifications required, though relevant technical training is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 accessibility guidelines, DEI principles, and Multimedia Principles for Learning.
- Experience working with instructional designers, subject matter experts, and talent in an educational context.
- Familiarity with Agile learning design methodologies.
- Proven ability to innovate and implement process improvements

For full-time positions, Kaplan has three salary grades. This position is Salary Grade A: $31,200 to $78,647.
