Lead the engineering team responsible for Ivy & Ocelot, Gravyty's AI-powered engagement platform serving higher education institutions. Balance technical leadership with people management to deliver a seamless, 24/7, multilingual support experience that drives student recruitment, retention, and career readiness.

Key Responsibilities: Manage and mentor a cross-functional engineering team while overseeing end-to-end development of the platform, including omnichannel integration across SMS, WhatsApp, Email, and Telephony. Drive ecosystem connectivity with campus systems (SIS, LMS, CRMs), ensure security and compliance (SOC2 Type 2, FERPA, GDPR, HIPAA), and maximize institutional ROI through automation.
Skills & Tools: Strong understanding of AI/ML integration, API-based system architecture, and cloud-scale deployments with proven ability to leverage predictive analytics and real-time reporting. Excellent team leadership, strategic thinking, and collaborative skills to work effectively with product and sales teams while maintaining a student-centric vision.
Qualifications: Proven track record of leading engineering teams in EdTech or SaaS sectors with demonstrated experience delivering customizable and scalable solutions for institutions of all sizes. Technical breadth in modern software architecture combined with passion for using technology to improve educational outcomes and support at-risk student identification.

About the Role

As the Director, Engineering, you will lead the high-performing team responsible for Ivy & Ocelot, Gravyty’s flagship AI-powered engagement platform. You will balance technical leadership with people management, ensuring your team delivers a seamless, 24/7, and multilingual support experience for higher education institutions. Your goal is to lead the Engineering team responsible for executing a unified AI strategy that drives student recruitment, retention, and career readiness.

Core Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a cross-functional team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation in AI-powered automation and student success initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance, sprint planning support, and career development for engineers while ensuring delivery against the product roadmap.
  • Product Delivery: Oversee the end-to-end development of the Ivy & Ocelot platform, ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive, data-driven engagement tool.
  • Omnichannel Integration: Lead the engineering efforts to maintain a unified chat inbox that manages interactions across SMS, WhatsApp, Email, and Telephony.
  • Ecosystem Connectivity: Ensure robust, secure integrations with major campus systems, including Student Information Systems (SIS), Learning Management Systems (LMS), and CRMs.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive the team toward maximizing institutional ROI by automating routine inquiries and reducing administrative burdens for staff.
  • Security Governance: Maintain strict adherence to compliance standards, including SOC2 Type 2, FERPA, GDPR, and HIPAA.

Required Qualifications
