Qualifications: Minimum 5-7 years of tax experience, preferably with public companies or Big 4 firms, with strong knowledge of U.S. tax laws and international tax being a plus.
Location: This role is based in the United States and may require occasional travel but primarily supports remote or hybrid work.
Compensation: $103900 - $155900 / Annually
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Manage preparation and filing of federal, state, local, and international tax returns.
- Oversee quarterly and annual tax provision processes in accordance with ASC 740.
- Ensure compliance with property, sales/use, and other indirect taxes.
Strategic Tax Planning
- Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize liabilities and support business growth.
- Advise leadership on tax implications of corporate initiatives, including M&A and restructuring.
- Monitor legislative changes and assess impact on the organization.
Audit & Risk Management
- Lead tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
- Maintain documentation and controls to support tax positions and mitigate risk.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial audits.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Partner with finance, legal, and external advisors to ensure tax alignment across functions.
- Promote continuous improvement in tax processes and systems.
Technology & Process Optimization
- Utilize tax software (OneSource, Bloomberg, PeopleSoft) to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Drive automation and digital transformation initiatives within the tax function.
Experience
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive tax experience, including corporate tax compliance and provision.
- Experience in a publicly traded company or Big 4 accounting firm (preferred).
- Strong understanding of U.S. federal and state tax laws; international tax experience a plus.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in tax software and ERP systems (OneSourse, Bloomberg Fixed Assets, PeopleSoft, etc.).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
Other
- Must be able to travel occasionally should a business need arise. For most roles travel would not be common. Travel may involve plane, car or metro. In accordance with ADA policies, reasonable accommodations regarding travel limitations can be provided. Travel will be more common for roles such as Account Executives (25 - 50%), senior leaders (10 – 20%) or Capella Core Faculty (5 – 10%).
- Ability to work onsite in Corporate or Campus location (in a typical office environment) may be required based on role. If so, this would include being mobile within the office, including movement from floor-to-floor using elevators or stairs.
- If offsite or hybrid role, must have access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at a remote location.
