Summary

As a Higher Education Consulting Associate in Research Compliance/IRB, you will lead project work streams for Huron clients to implement complex solutions in institutional research governance and compliance. You'll collaborate with university and healthcare leadership to enhance organizational effectiveness and drive sustainable research administration practices.

Key Responsibilities: Lead consulting projects focused on research compliance, IRB operations, and institutional research governance while utilizing Huron methodologies and analytics tools. Collaborate with client staff and leadership, manage junior Huron team members, and implement comprehensive solutions to improve research administration processes.
Skills & Tools: Strong consulting and relationship-building abilities with expertise in IRB/HRPP operations, research administration, and regulatory compliance. Proficiency with research governance tools, analytics, and the ability to manage complex projects across multiple stakeholders.
Qualifications: Minimum 3 years of consulting, higher education, healthcare, or relevant work experience with direct experience in an IRB/HRPP office at a university, hospital, or research institute. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required; Certified IRB Professional (CIP) certification preferred.
Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States (Flexible); willingness and ability to travel up to 50% required
Compensation: $100,000 – $140,000/year base salary; inclusive of annual incentive compensation, total estimated compensation range is $112,000 – $165,200/year

Qualifications

Required:

  • Current U.S. work authorization required
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in consulting, Higher Education, Healthcare, or relevant work experience
  • Experience working in an IRB/HRPP office of a university, hospital, or research institute.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%. Huron has a Targeted Travel model focused on meeting the expectations of our clients and prioritizing a nimbler and more inclusive environment for our employees. Please discuss your preferences with your recruiter. 

Preferred:

  • Certified IRB Professional (CIP)
  • Experience in research administration, research strategy/transformation, research operations, and/or regulatory compliance
  • Previous consulting experience

The estimated base salary for this job is $100,000 - $140,000. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that Huron reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel. This job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s annual incentive compensation program, which reflects Huron’s pay for performance philosophy. Inclusive of annual incentive compensation opportunity, the total estimated compensation range for this job is $112,000 - $165,200. The job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s benefit plans which include medical, dental and vision coverage and other wellness programs. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future.
