Summary

Associate UX/UI Designer for Amplify Education creating engaging product experiences for K-12 science education. This contract role involves designing student-facing digital activities and collaborating with cross-functional teams to build the Science 2nd Edition Curriculum.

Key Responsibilities: Develop wireframes, interaction flows, mockups, and high-fidelity designs for student-facing digital activities while collaborating with product, content, and developer teams. Participate in design reviews, user testing iterations, and contribute to overall K-8 science program direction through problem-solving and collaborative feedback.
Skills & Tools: Strong visual design, typographic sensibility, and interaction design expertise with proficiency in Figma, Adobe CC, and prototyping tools. Effective written, verbal, and listening communication skills with understanding of qualitative research and data-informed design decisions.
Qualifications: Minimum 1+ years of end-to-end product design experience with expertise in responsive desktop and mobile design. Experience in EdTech preferred, along with formal education in design-related fields and enthusiasm for science education.

Job Description Summary:

Amplify’s creative team is a group of designers, artists, and storytellers. We sketch, we write, we push pixels, we also love paper. We live for the big ideas, and we sweat the details. We work on digital, print, environmental, interactive, and animation projects. We have a strong hands-on and highly collaborative approach to both product development and graphic design systems and ensure ideas are realized to the highest standards of execution. 

Associate UX/UI Designers at Amplify create delightful and meaningful product experiences that directly meet the needs of our young learners and their teachers, inside and outside of the classroom, as well as internal authors crafting experiences for those audiences. As a member of the Amplify Science design team you will partner with a diverse cross-functional product team of designers, product owners, interaction developers, and curriculum experts to build Science’s 2nd Edition Curriculum.

*This is a contract role.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Participate in problem solving and design to drive compelling user experiences within our platform (Amplify Classroom)
  • Develop wire frames, interaction flows, mockups, and quick prototypes as well as polished high fidelity designs for student-facing digital activities and resources
  • Collaborate closely with your product, content and interactive developer partners to produce engaging activities and contribute to the overall direction of the K-8 science program
  • Partner with your user researchers on rapid prototypes for iterative user testing with teachers and students
  • Participate in collaborative discussions, including listening closely and providing honest, thoughtful feedback to team members
  • Utilize strong and effective interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, and listening) 
  • Prepare designs for review to design leadership, internal teams and key stakeholders
  • Participate in design reviews and team meetings

Required Qualifications:

  • 1+ years experience with end-to-end product design
  • Understanding of how qualitative research and data inform product and design decisions
  • Strong visual design and typographic sensibility
  • Interaction design expertise
  • Expertise with design tools (e.g. Figma, Adobe CC, Notion) and familiarity with prototyping tools to create interactive design concepts
  • Experience designing responsive desktop and mobile experiences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with digital product design in education technology or a related field
  • Enthusiasm for contributing to the landscape of science education
  • Experience designing with Accessibility as a priority
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and document user experience requirements
  • Experience with visual design, interactive motion design or games
  • Any lived experience with teaching or tutoring students ages K-8
  • A formal education in Interaction Design, Communication Design, User Experience or related field 

Compensation:

The hourly rate range for this role is $35 - $45.
