Summary

Touchstone Grader for Psychology/Sociology at Sophia Learning evaluates student submissions and provides constructive feedback while maintaining high efficiency and quality standards. This role ensures consistent grading quality and supports student learning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities: Evaluate student work against grading rubrics, provide detailed and constructive feedback, check for plagiarism and grammar issues, and participate in calibration efforts to maintain quality consistency. Complete grading documentation and communicate feedback in a supportive manner.
Skills & Tools: Strong subject matter expertise in Psychology/Sociology, excellent time management and prioritization, proficiency in written and verbal communication, and advanced computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Must maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sound judgment with strong mental acuity.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required; Master's degree is preferred. Current or prior high school and post-secondary teaching experience in Psychology, Sociology, or related fields is ideal.
Location: United States of America; up to 10% travel required
Compensation: $19.50 – $29.75/hourly

Graders evaluate submitted student work for content, competency and adherence to the instructions and rubric. Graders are held to efficiency and quality goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Accurately read and measure student performance based against a grading rubric.
  • Collaboratively work with the Lead for the course(s) to provide the student with constructive, supportive and concise feedback.
  • Complete grading rubrics and leave detailed feedback and comments for the learner.
  • Check student submissions for plagiarism and for grammar.
  • Provide in-context feedback and scoring using the Sophia-provided rubric.
  • Participate in calibration efforts to ensure consistency of quality for our learners.

Work Experience:

• Current or prior HS or Post-secondary teaching experience in Psychology, Sociology, and/or other related fields.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required; Master’s degree is preferred.

  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Typical office setting.
  • Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor.
  • Travel via plane, car, and metro may be required to perform this job.
  • Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant.
  • Access information using a computer.
  • Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain.
  • Effectively cope with stressful situations.
  • Strong mental acuity.
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.
