Sr. Infrastructure Engineer responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing academic and research computing environments across on-premises and cloud platforms. This role ensures secure, compliant, and high-performance infrastructure supporting the university's research and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities: Design and manage HPC systems, on-prem clusters, and multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Nutanix); automate infrastructure processes for research and enterprise operations; implement security measures and optimize cloud resource usage and costs. Provide technical support and training to researchers and students on virtual and physical computing environments.
Skills & Tools: Expert knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), HPC systems, infrastructure automation, and configuration management; strong understanding of security, compliance, and data sensitivity standards. Excellent technical documentation and training abilities with budget management experience.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with 5+ years of infrastructure engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated expertise. Proven experience with cloud platforms, HPC environments, and infrastructure automation required.

Compensation: $140K–$180K/yr (estimated)

Job Description

Build and maintain academic and research computing environments. Provide support to the University's computing environment through technical knowledge of systems and the development of applications to support the secure and compliant operations of servers, storage, networking, and virtual environments. Provide support for the university research computing environments and the software, hardware, and infrastructure associated with research endeavors at the University. Build, configure and support HPC systems, on-prem clusters, and cloud environments (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Nutanix), providing support to researchers and ensuring optimal performance and job scheduling. Design, develop, and automate processes for efficient use in research, academic, and enterprise settings, ensuring compliance with data sensitivity standards. Implement security measures and manage budgets for cloud resources, optimizing resource usage, and minimizing costs. Onboard and assist students and researchers in utilizing virtual and physical environments effectively, providing training and documentation. Work from home is permitted.
