Summary

Acting instructor for afterschool programs at Togetherhood, a marketplace connecting passionate educators with K-12 enrichment opportunities across New York schools and communities. Create engaging theater experiences for students while developing age-appropriate curriculum and fostering a lifelong passion for acting.

Key Responsibilities: Design and deliver age-appropriate acting curriculum for K-12 students across multiple schools and community sites, with class terms ranging from 6 to 18 weeks. Prepare detailed lesson plans, arrive on time, create inclusive classroom environments, and help students understand the value of theater and personal development.
Skills & Tools: Strong teaching ability with school-age children, curriculum design and lesson planning expertise, adaptability and creativity in instruction, and soft skills including enthusiasm, flexibility, dependability, and the ability to work autonomously while appreciating clear expectations and support. French language proficiency is a bonus for this urgent placement.
Qualifications: Experience teaching school-age children in formal or informal settings; formal teaching experience preferred but relevant experience or training in acting or theater education acceptable. Must pass background check, school clearances where applicable, and provide references.
Location: In-Person - NYC, NY
Compensation: $35K–$50K/yr (estimated)

What You'll Do

As a member of our network, you will be matched with opportunities to teach acting classes to K-12 students at schools, buildings, and communities across New York. These teaching opportunities will be for terms that could last anywhere from 6 weeks to 18 weeks. As an after school instructor, you'll have the following responsibilities:

  • Conceive of and create an age-appropriate curriculum for your class
  • Create memorable experience for the children in your class to help them grow and develop a passion for theater
  • Consistently arrive at your class on time (or early!), prepared with the lesson plan for the day
  • Help children understand why acting is so wonderful and how it's helped shape you as a person
