Compensation: $75000 - $85000 / Annually
POSITION TITLE: Manager, Development (Foundation Relations)
LOCATION: New York, NY
REPORTS TO: SVP, Development (Foundation Relations)
Note: This hybrid role is primarily remote, with occasional in-office requirements. The ideal candidate is based in a city with a Per Scholas campus.
OVERVIEW:
You will play a key role on our national development team with responsibilities in foundation relations, fundraising, grant writing, and organizational storytelling for prospects and current funders in our national foundation funding portfolio.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Generate revenue by fundraising from national and multi-market foundations through the process of identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospective and current funders.
- Identify and research prospective private and community foundations to assess interest in providing funding support across campuses or for national initiatives and collaborate with relevant staff to initiate contact.
- Support cultivation of foundations providing support of at least $100K annually and more ideally over $1M annually.
- Draft proposals by synthesizing program information from program staff and Salesforce database to articulate narratives, goals, activities, anticipated outcomes, successes, challenges, etc. to foundation funders.
- Prepare for and often lead funder meetings: developing meeting memos, drafting site visit agendas and coordinating among key participants, documenting interactions in Salesforce,and supporting follow-up.
- Continuously track and monitor opportunities, funder deadlines and deliverables, and ensure timely submissions of proposals and reports.
- Coordinate with communications staff to publicize grants and other partnership activities as relevant to advance philanthropic relationships.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO US:
Professional Requirements
- 5-7 years of relevant development experience, including experience directly managing foundations giving at various levels, including $1M+ annually.
- A track record of success in managing, renewing, and increasing revenue from a portfolio of funders, particularly foundations
- Exceptional writing and editing skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills, both in person and via videocalls
- Proven research abilities, including gathering and interpreting data; funder prospecting experience desirable
- Experience with Salesforce and Google Apps for Business
- Capacity to attend key external meetings as an organizational representative when needed

For this role specifically, we are targeting a salary range of $75,000-$85,000 where the difference in salary is typically determined by several factors, including geography in which the selected candidate resides, and alignment with qualifications and experience.
