The Opportunity

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for a Sr. Manager, Sales Engineering to lead a team of Sales Engineers supporting our Grammarly and Coda products. This role is crucial in driving the effectiveness of Grammarly’s go-to-market efforts within organizations, overseeing a team of specialized Sales Engineers who partner closely with Account Executives (AEs) to expand Grammarly’s presence in the corporate landscape. The Sales Engineers on your team will support up-market segments across both Grammarly and Coda products, managing technical relationships, running proof of concepts (POCs), and navigating complex procurement processes typical in corporate environments.

As a Sr. Manager, Sales Engineering at Grammarly, you will lead, coach, and mentor a team of Sales Engineers who support the sales cycle by co-managing discovery, delivering tailored demos, running proofs of concept, quantifying business value, and addressing security and privacy concerns. Your team will be instrumental in partnering with sales representatives to understand the needs of businesses and position Grammarly and Coda product capabilities to meet those unique needs. They will also collaborate closely with Sales to unlock large deals, drive growth, and provide innovative solutions that enhance workplace communication, collaboration, and productivity across diverse organizational environments.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and manage a team of multi-product Sales Engineers focused on supporting corporate clients, providing ongoing coaching and mentorship to maximize their impact.
  • Build strategic partnerships with Account Executives to ensure alignment and collaboration on key opportunities and initiatives.
  • Drive projects and implement processes that enhance efficiency and overall team performance.
  • Oversee the technical pre-sales process, ensuring your team is equipped to handle complex procurement requirements, security reviews, and technical integrations.
  • Adapt strategies to align with product updates and the evolving needs of business organizations, responding proactively to market changes.
  • Act as a key player in scaling the Grammarly go-to-market efforts, working to improve critical metrics like win rates and deal sizes.
  • Ensure sales feedback is communicated to Product/Engineering teams to inform development and shape go-to-market strategy, aligning our product with customer needs.

Qualifications

  • Has 5+ years of management experience in Sales Engineering or Solutions Consulting within a SaaS company.
  • Experience managing sales engineering/pre-sales teams that support multi-product complex sales cycles.
  • Demonstrates strategic thinking and the ability to execute key initiatives that improve team performance and efficiency.
  • Is a strong communicator who can build effective relationships with sales management, sales leadership, and cross-functional teams (marketing, product, engineering, etc.)
  • Understands the complexities of an enterprise-level procurement process, including navigating RFPs and security reviews.
  • Is adaptable and can lead a team through the challenges of a constantly evolving product and a competitive market.
  • Has a track record of building and scaling high-performing teams.

Grammarly takes a market-based approach to compensation, which means base pay may vary depending on your location. Our US locations are categorized into two compensation zones based on proximity to our hub locations.

Base pay may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The expected salary ranges for this position are outlined below by compensation zone and may be modified in the future. The expected “On Target Earnings” (OTE) for this role are outlined below and may be modified in the future.

United States:

Zone 1: $244,000 – $300,000/year OTE (USD)

Zone 2: $220,000 – $275,000/year OTE (USD)

The commission portion for this role will be 30% of the On-Target Earning (OTE).
