Your Role

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to join our team and work on products for our Elite North American market, which includes American football, basketball, ice hockey and soccer. You’ll have the chance to work on a new initiative that’s going to make a significant impact on the top teams in these sports.

As an Engineering Manager at Hudl, you’ll:

  • Drive technical strategy. Your strategic insights will help set the direction for our engineering efforts and ensure we stay ahead in the market.
  • Maintain efficiency. With a focus on outcomes over outputs, you’ll ensure your team delivers high-impact work efficiently. Your leadership will empower your team to make data-driven decisions and iterate quickly on feedback.
  • Collaborate across disciplines. You’ll work closely with leaders from various disciplines to plan and deliver enhancements across our product suite. Your ability to integrate diverse perspectives will be key to driving innovation and ensuring our products meet the highest standards.
  • Empower your team. A team of 4-8 Software Engineers will look to you for guidance, and you’ll provide them with autonomy to find the best solutions using their expertise.
  • Champion Agile practices. You’ll participate actively in Scrum ceremonies, playing a significant role in maintaining a strong team culture. You will build and lead a diverse and high-performing roster, driving Hudl’s mission forward.

Our priority is to hire someone for this role who lives near our office in Lincoln, Nebraska, but we're also open to remote candidates who live in the following states: AL, AZ, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MA, MI, MN, MO, NE, NH, NC, NV, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WI, WY.

Must-Haves

  • Experience leading others. You have a track record of mentoring, connecting with, and improving those around you.
  • Strong technical proficiency. You’re an expert in full-stack engineering, and you’ve spent time with cloud-based systems/services. You’re also an advocate of TDD and CI/CD, and you can drive engineering practices across any team.
  • Critical thinking skills. You’re able to come up with novel solutions to problems—it’s easy for you to think outside the box.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Multi-level team experience. You’ve worked with teams of different levels of maturity simultaneously, and can tailor your approach to get the best results.
  • Professional background in relevant technologies. Experience with C#, React, React-Native, MongoDB and AWS are a plus. A familiarity with adjacent languages, frameworks and services used at scale is also valuable.
  • Sports industry knowledge. You’ve worked in sports technology for a high level college or professional American football team, or you’ve played the sport at those levels.

Our Role

  • Champion work-life harmony. We’ll give you the flexibility you need in your work life (e.g., flexible vacation time, company-wide holidays and timeout (meeting-free) days, remote work options and more) so you can enjoy your personal life too.
  • Guarantee autonomy. We have an open, honest culture and we trust our people from day one. Your team will support you, but you’ll own your work and have the agency to try new ideas.
  • Encourage career growth. We’re lifelong learners who encourage professional development. We’ll give you tons of resources and opportunities to keep growing.
  • Provide an environment to help you succeed. We've invested in our offices, designing incredible spaces with our employees in mind. But whether you’re at the office or working remotely, we’ll provide you the tech stack and hardware to do your best work.
  • Support your mental and physical health. We care about our employees’ wellbeing. Our Employee Assistance Program, employee resource groups and fitness partner Peerfit have you covered.
  • Cover your medicalinsurance. We have multiple plans to pick from to ensure you’ll have the coverage you (and your dependents) want, including vision, dental, fertility healthcare and family forming benefits.
  • Contribute to your 401(K). Yep, that’s free money. We’ll match up to 4% of your own contribution.
