Summary

Regional Manager overseeing college retail bookstore operations across North Carolina, responsible for managing store managers, inventory, budgets, and customer relationships to support BibliU's education technology and campus store management services.

Key Responsibilities: Supervise store managers and personnel, manage textbook and merchandise inventory procurement, construct and monitor regional budgets with weekly/monthly financial analysis, and maintain relationships with campus administration and publishers. Ensure store appearance, customer service standards, and facilitate the transition from print to digital course materials.
Skills & Tools: Strong leadership and personnel management abilities, financial acumen with budget construction and analysis, vendor and stakeholder relationship management, and customer service excellence. Requires proficiency in inventory management, retail operations, and the ability to work independently with frequent travel.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred (or 4 years equivalent experience) with 3-5 years of relevant retail, operations, or bookstore management experience. Prior supervisory or management experience in a retail or education environment is expected.
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina; Remote with frequent travel within North Carolina region
Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation for this role is $65,000 – $85,000/year based on title, seniority, and location.

Position Overview

The Regional Manager directly reports to the Vice President of Retail and over-sees operations and personnel at the college retail bookstores placed under his/her direction.

  • Construct and direct budget goals of the designated region.
  • Facilitate converting print materials to digital access.
  • Execute Company customer service initiatives.
  • Oversee acquisition and maintenance of digital access, textbook and merchandise inventory.
  • Hiring and training of bookstore personnel.
  • Company procedure and job related training.
  • Professional representation of the Company.


What you will be doing:

  • Oversight of store managers in the designated region.
  • Supervisory duties to procure and maintain sufficient textbook inventory levels throughout each school term.
  • Supervisory duties to procure and maintain adequate inventory levels in general merchandise departments appropriate to budgetary needs
  • Supervisory duties to ensure correspondence and sufficient contact with department chairperson, faculty members and publishers as needed on book orders.


Fiscal Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the construction of budgets for stores in the designated region.
  • Construct and analyze reports on a weekly and monthly basis to monitor financial fiscal return.
  • Prepare weekly financial “snapshot” reports for each store.


Public Relations:

  • Meet with the campus administration minimally four (4) times a year to build rapport, discuss service and customer expectations.
  • Participate in outreach to prospective customers.
  • Supervise store appearance and customer service integrity to ensure positive impressions of customers and potential customers.


Personnel:

  • Recruit, hire, train and maintain staff at appropriate levels according to Company guidelines and budgets.


Education:

  • Four (4) years of college or its equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s (preferred)


Experience:

  • Three (3) to five (5) years management experience in a multi-unit college bookstore or retail operation.
  • Successful retailing experience including profitability, budgeting, merchandising, promotion and staffing.
  • Textbook experience is a plus.
