Skills: Candidates should have extensive knowledge of U.S. employment laws, experience with global employment laws, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Qualifications: A Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, and a minimum of 5 years of legal experience with at least 3 years focusing on employment law are required.
Location: This position is based in Massachusetts, USA, with remote options available.
Compensation: $110500 - $196500 / Annually

The Employment Counsel serves as the employment law lead working in close collaboration with the People & Culture team and other teams across the Company to define, collaborate, and advise on employment related matters. The Employment Counsel protects the growing business and proactively manages potential employment-related risk across all our Global offices.
The impact you'll have:
- Provides strategic legal guidance and counseling on a broad spectrum of employment law issues, including employee relations, recruiting, performance management, internal investigations, compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, culture initiatives, and employee data privacy.
- Partners with the People & Culture team to evaluate, develop and maintain employment and P&C policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Drafts and reviews employment related agreements and templates.
- Supports global legal strategies and partners with the General Counsel and outside counsel on international employment issues.
- Negotiates and manages employment-related disputes, including supervising outside counsel.
- Manage employment-related litigation, internal investigations, and other employment related inquiries.
- Conducts audits, employment classification reviews and support other compliance efforts.
- Monitors important developments in employment law in the jurisdictions the Company operates in globally.
- Support the business and assist with other compliance matters and legal functions on an as needed, reasonable basis.
Who we're looking for:
- Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. state and federal employment laws and best practices.
- Some experience, knowledge and understanding of global employment laws.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with lawyers and non-lawyers, to establish effective solutions efficiently and in an amenable manner;
- Builds trust, emphasized collaboration and communication, and serves as a connector between business and legal;
- Translate legal advice into actionable guidance for stakeholders, often in line with prescribed timelines;
- Ability to apply risk-balanced, practical legal guidance to complex employment questions, creative problem-solving and solution-finding skills, and agility and flexibility in an evolving and ever-changing environment;
- Superior analytical and research skills to complete assigned tasks and navigate challenging matters;
- Maintains confidentiality to the utmost degree;
- Takes independent action and calculated risks while asking for help as needed;
- Balances team and individual responsibilities while contributing to a positive working environment.
Required Education and Experience:
- Juris doctor from an accredited law school; Member of the bar in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction;
- 5 years of legal experience, with a minimum of 3 years’ counseling on employment matters;
- Familiarity and experience with advising on employment matters abroad.
Benefits and Pay Range:
Pay Range – This role’s range is $110,500 - $196,500. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that Curriculum Associates considers in making compensation decisions based on our Compensation Philosophy. Actual base pay within that range will vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, prior experience and relevant skill sets. At Curriculum Associates, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances for each case. This role is also eligible to participate in the company bonus plan. The Company recognizes that minimum wage varies by location and will ensure all compensation decisions comply with applicable state and local laws.
