Summary

Senior Payroll Specialist on Figma's Accounting Team responsible for managing US payroll operations and ensuring seamless coordination across Finance, Benefits, HRIS, and People Ops functions. This role is critical to maintaining accurate payroll processing and compliance with tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities: Process and validate US payroll using Workday, review timesheets and leave records, audit payroll tax records, process final paychecks and adjustments, create payroll-related journal entries, and file quarterly taxes and W-2s. Provide payroll reports and commentary on financial trends to internal departments while collaborating with accounting and finance teams.
Skills & Tools: Expertise in US payroll processing, Workday Payroll proficiency, strong attention to detail and data validation abilities, and experience creating journal entries and financial documentation. Excellent communication and project management skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and provide clear documentation and ad-hoc reporting.
Qualifications: Minimum 3-5 years of payroll experience with demonstrated expertise in US payroll operations and tax compliance. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, with knowledge of payroll systems and regulatory requirements.
Location: San Francisco, CA; New York, NY; Seattle, WA; or Remote within the United States
Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation for this role is $75,000 – $95,000/year based on title, seniority, and location.

Job Description

As a Senior Payroll Specialist on the Accounting Team, you’ll be an integral part of Figma’s payroll operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in processing US payroll, preparing journal entries, and leading projects. This role will collaborate closely with the Benefits, HRIS, People Ops, and Accounting teams to ensure seamless coordination across various functions. This person will report directly to the Senior Payroll Manager.

This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.

What you’ll do at Figma:

  • Maintain, review and validate data for US payroll using Workday Payroll
  • Review timesheets, attendance records and leave of absence pay
  • Audit payroll tax records
  • Process payments for final paychecks, adjustments and special pay
  • Create journal entries related to payroll transactions
  • Collaborate with the accounting and finance teams to provide commentary on flux and trends
  • Participate in audits for 401k, Workers Compensation, and general audit
  • File quarterly taxes and issue W-2s
  • Create and maintain process documentation
  • Provide standard and ad-hoc payroll reports to various internal departments such as Finance, Accounting, Tax and Equity
