Be part of a dynamic and innovative team that is shaping the future of technology at Lehigh University. We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Senior Systems Application Engineer to join our Library and Technology Services (LTS) department.
In this critical role, you will engage in the evaluation, planning, and implementation of cutting-edge technological solutions to ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of Lehigh University's IT infrastructure and applications. With a focus on bridging the gap between traditional systems engineering and application development, you will maintain and manage systems infrastructure both on-premises and in the cloud, as well as contribute to application development projects.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or Information Systems or a related degree; Master's Degree preferred
• Five to eight years of related work experience
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• In-depth knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems, virtualization technologies such as VMWare, and cloud computing.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles, data structures, and algorithms.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with scripting & programming languages such as Python, PHP, Go, Bash, Perl, JavaScript or PowerShell.
• Experience with version control systems (Git) and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Salt, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
