Summary

Lead Software Engineer at OCLC driving software development initiatives and leading teams to build innovative technology solutions that connect libraries and enhance global knowledge access. This role combines technical leadership with mentorship responsibilities to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities: Lead large teams overseeing multiple software development projects, mentor junior and senior engineers, and drive technical innovation while setting standards. Collaborate with product management and leadership to define product roadmaps, solve complex technical problems, and ensure delivery of high-quality software solutions.
Skills & Tools: Strong programming skills in multiple languages, extensive experience with software development methodologies, cloud platforms, distributed systems, and microservices architecture. Deep understanding of database systems, AI tool integration, excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, plus proven team leadership and mentoring capabilities.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline (or equivalent work experience) with 7+ years of software development experience. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams with strong technical foundation across multiple domains.
Location: Hybrid in Minnesota, United States of America
Compensation: $120,000 – $160,000/year

The job details are as follows:

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leading software development initiatives. You will independently design, develop, and test complex software programs and systems. You will also collaborate with team members, mentor junior engineers, and provide technical guidance to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions. You will also collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define, refine, and implement features and enhancements.

Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and coach other senior engineers.
  • Drive technical innovation and set standards.
  • Solve complex technical problems and identify solutions.
  • Collaborate with product management and leadership to define product roadmaps.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of software development experience.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages.
  • Extensive experience with software development methodologies.
  • Ability to lead and mentor teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Deep understanding of database systems.
  • Experience with cloud platforms.
  • Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture.
  • Experience integrating AI tools, frameworks, and concepts into the software development process.
