Summary

Join Parallel as a full-time HR Specialist to support the People Team in managing HR operations including benefits administration, payroll assistance, and employee relations in a fully remote setting. Key Responsibilities: Own benefits administration including platform management and Open Enrollment support, assist with payroll administration and employment tax applications, serve as the first point of contact for employee HR inquiries and support requests, and manage special HR projects using Excel to support people strategy initiatives.
Skills & Tools: Strong Excel skills, proficiency in benefits and payroll systems, excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, strong attention to detail, and the ability to self-direct, prioritize tasks, and work collaboratively in a startup environment.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in HR, business, or related field with at least 2 years of HR experience. Strong organizational skills and comfort communicating with employees and vendors via email and phone required.
Location: Remote, United States (preference for EST or CST timezone)
Compensation: $50,000 – $70,000/year

Parallel is seeking a full-time HR specialist. In this role, you’ll be supporting the People Team by driving operational aspects of HR such as benefits administration, compliance support, managing the HR inbox, and assisting with payroll.

What you’ll do: 

  • Own benefits administration: manage Ease, audit monthly statements, align our benefits platform with our HRIS data, own system integrations, and support the VP of People with Open Enrollment 
  • Assist with payroll administration: manage employment tax applications, update time off requests and accruals, send payroll reports to our 401k vendor, and support the VP of People with payroll execution
  • Act as first point of contact for employees in need of HR support: own HR inbox and work with our operations team to answer HR tickets, escalate questions appropriately, resolve issues in a friendly and timely manner
  • Manage special HR projects: use your excel skills to build out ad hoc projects encompassing benefits, annual audits, and people strategy initiatives

What you need: 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in experience, preferably in HR or business
  • Strong Excel skills
  • 2 years of HR experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proactive about seeking answers and pitching solutions
  • Ability to self-direct and prioritize tasks on a daily basis
  • Comfortable dialoging with employees and vendors via email and phone
  • Excited to work in a startup environment
