Summary

Group Legal Counsel for a global learning technologies company, leading contract management and legal advisory across diverse international business units. This role requires expertise in enterprise software, cross-border transactions, and multi-jurisdictional compliance to support complex commercial operations.

Key Responsibilities: Draft, negotiate, and close complex commercial agreements including SaaS, software licensing, data protection, content licensing, and partner agreements across multiple jurisdictions. Provide legal guidance on cross-border contracting while balancing risk management with business objectives.
Skills & Tools: Expert-level contract drafting and negotiation skills with solid understanding of enterprise software legal frameworks, global privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), and cross-border commercial contracting. Proficiency with AI drafting tools and strong business judgment required.
Qualifications: Extensive experience in enterprise software law and commercial contracting with proven expertise in multi-jurisdictional transactions. Advanced legal knowledge of global privacy regulations and demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-value agreements.
Location: Remote, United States or United Kingdom
Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation for this role is $180,000 – $240,000/year for US-based positions or Β£120,000 – Β£160,000/year for UK-based positions, based on Group Legal Counsel seniority, enterprise software expertise, and international scope.

Job Description

We are looking for a Group Legal Counsel to join our team, based remotely in the US or the UK.

Working alongside an international team of in-house lawyers and paralegals, you will work on a range of legal matters for our group companies. This is a challenging but at the same time very interesting role, as the global and diverse nature of our group will require cross border contracting and an understanding of the law in multiple jurisdictions. The salary will be dependent on experience, with a good benefits package.

What you'll be doing everyday

Drafting, negotiating and closing complex (buyer and vendor) commercial agreements, including Software-as-a-Service Agreements, Software Licensing Agreements, Data Protection Agreements, Content Licensing Agreements, Professional Services Agreements and Partner Agreements. The different risk profiles of our various businesses require a good business understanding and solid judgement.

About you

  • Solid expertise and knowledge in the enterprise software space and related legal frameworks and risks
  • A good understanding of global privacy laws is an advantage
  • Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills
  • Experience in cross-border commercial contracting
  • Experience in using AI drafting tools
