Summary

Part-time contract role supporting Amplify's design and content teams by researching, sourcing, and obtaining permissions for educational visual media. The specialist ensures all images are properly licensed, copyright-compliant, and aligned with visual standards.

Key Responsibilities: Research and recommend age-appropriate images matching project art direction and style guides; collaborate with design and content teams on visual consistency; negotiate permissions with rights holders and obtain files from stock libraries; maintain accurate documentation of usage rights, costs, and restrictions.
Skills & Tools: Strong knowledge of copyright law, visual media, and metadata management; proficiency with Adobe Suite, Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, and digital asset management tools; excellent written and oral communication with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Qualifications: BA in Art History, Visual Arts, Communications, Publishing, Business, Legal Studies, or related field (or equivalent experience); minimum 5+ years of experience with inbound licensing of image assets. Job Description Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized, visually discerning and detail-oriented Image Research & Permissions Associate to support Amplify’s design and content teams in sourcing, tracking, and obtaining permissions for visual content. This role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for design and strong understanding of copyright, visual media, and metadata management, and a passion for education and publishing. 

As a member of Amplify’s Rights & Permissions team, the associate will collaborate closely with content, legal, design, and production teams to ensure all images used in Amplify’s programs are appropriately licensed and align with Amplify’s visual standards and educational purpose. 

*This is a part-time, contract role.

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Research and recommend high-quality, age-appropriate images that align with project-specific art direction, audience needs, and style guides
  • Collaborate with design and content teams to ensure visual consistency and adherence to established art direction and style guidelines
  • Obtain files from rights holders and stock libraries aligned to production and design requirements 
  • Liaise with rights holders to negotiate and obtain image permissions 
  • Obtain appropriate internal approvals and facilitate invoicing process 
  • Maintain accurate documentation of image usage rights, costs, credits and restrictions using internal tracking systems
  • Verify compliance with copyright and trademark laws for all sourced images
  • Assist with preparing image permission documentation and metadata for archiving and audit purposes
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Legal and Permissions team 

Required Qualifications:

  • BA in Art History, Visual Arts, Communications, Publishing, Business, Legal Studies or a related field; or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years experience with inbound licensing of image assets
  • Experience following visual guidelines, editorial art direction, and established style standards
  • Experience managing large volumes of digital assets and usage rights
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Suite, Microsoft Suite and Google Suite
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, file tracking systems, and image databases
  • Working knowledge of legal concepts related to licensing
  • Excellent communication (written and oral)
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and planning skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in education publishing, children’s media or K-12 education 
  • Proven visual research experience working to match art direction or style guides
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe CC (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Premier, Acrobat)
  • Knowledge of Creative Commons licensing, stock image libraries, and public domain sources
  • Experience with Digital Asset Management (DAM) tools

Compensation:

The hourly rate range for this role is $30 - $40.
