Summary

The RFP Technical Writer crafts high-quality technical narratives and responses for RFPs/RFIs related to literacy products, ensuring adherence to proposal standards and evaluation criteria. This role is critical for supporting Benchmark Education Company's sales submissions for core and supplemental literacy products.

Key Responsibilities: Develop, organize, and write RFP/RFI narratives and rubric responses with tight turnarounds while adhering to requirement structures and evaluation criteria. Collaborate with subject matter experts, incorporate feedback through multiple review cycles, maintain consistent product messaging, and manage multiple proposals simultaneously.
Skills & Tools: Strong writing and editing skills with ability to convey complex concepts succinctly and maintain professional tone; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and detail-oriented project management capabilities.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Business, or related field with 2-5+ years of ELA teaching experience and familiarity with proposal development best practices. Master's degree and proficiency in proposal management software (Loopio, RFPIO, Qvidian) are preferred; bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Position Purpose:

The RFP Technical Writer plays a key role in writing technical narratives and rubrics for RFP/RFI submissions for core and supplemental literacy products for both Open Territory and State Adoptions. The RFP Technical Writer is responsible for developing, organizing, and writing high-quality responses to RFPs, RFIs, and other formal sales rubrics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write (as part of a team of subject matter experts) RFP/RFI narratives and rubric responses sometimes with very quick turnaround
  • Adhere to RFP requirement, instructions, and structure responses to meet evaluation criteria
  • Follow proposal writing standards, including readability, consistency, and professional tone
  • Provide read behinds for submitted drafts
  • Accept, evaluate, and incorporate feedback from colleagues, often multiple times in a review cycle, while adapting content and maintaining a positive, professional attitude.
  • Maintain consistent product messaging and updated product language and data
  • Develop a deep understanding of BEC products and services with key differentiators
  • Work collaboratively with team members and cross-functional team

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Attend regularly scheduled status meetings to report on workflow and content issues
  • Read professional journals to increase market and pedagogical knowledge
  • Complete time tracking documentation on a weekly basis

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Business, or related field
  • 2-5+ years of ELA teaching experience
  • Familiarity with proposal development best practices and tools
  • Superior writing and editing skills
  • Ability to write succinctly and convey complex concepts
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple proposals simultaneously
  • Ability to independently manage workload, set priorities, and meet tight deadlines without constant supervision, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Master’s degree
  • Proficiency in proposal management software (e.g., Loopio, RFPIO, Qvidian) is a plus.
