Summary

Lead a high-performing frontend engineering team at an educational technology company, designing and developing rich user experiences for i-Ready, an award-winning K-8 educational software service that impacts educators and students.

Key Responsibilities: Lead a team of 4-6 engineers on architectural initiatives, design and develop frontend solutions using modern technologies, collaborate with product owners and UX designers to translate requirements into technical solutions, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable software solutions.
Skills & Tools: Expertise in TypeScript, React, Redux, HTML5, CSS, and modern frontend build tools; strong experience with AWS services, backend integration, and testing frameworks like React Testing Library and Playwright; excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills for mentoring and documentation.
Qualifications: 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2 years serving as a team lead mentoring and supporting engineers; demonstrated ability to design domain data models and produce maintainable, testable code; experience with Node and AWS Lambda is required.

Internal Job Title will be - Principal Software Engineer I

Take an innovative educational technology organization to the next level by becoming part of our rapidly growing organization. We seek a self-driven, passionate, highly qualified Principal Software Engineer with experience in modern frontend technologies. As a Lead frontend engineer at Curriculum Associates, you will be part of a high-performing team that builds dashboards and reports for educators to help them complete their jobs efficiently.

The impact you’ll have: 

  • Lead a team of 4-6 engineers, actively contributing to architectural initiatives and working with onshore and offshore team members
  • You will be part of a rapidly growing Ed-Tech company and will impact educators and students with your contributions to i-Ready, our award-winning K-8 educational software service. 
  • You will design and develop rich user experiences using HTML5, React, Redux, CSS, and modern frontend tools and frameworks.
  • You will work closely with your agile development team members, product owners, and user experience designers to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
  • You will help build new and innovative solutions that solve challenging software issues.
  • You will collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including Product and QA, translating product requirements into technical solutions.
  • You will partner with cross-functional peers on other teams to design and deliver solutions.

Who we’re looking for: 

  • Two years experience serving as a team lead, educating, mentoring, and supporting other members of your team to deliver large-scale initiatives.
  • Experience with modern Typescript, React, Redux, and frontend build tools.
  • Experience designing and developing domain data models.
  • Experience calling and using a wide variety of AWS services and backend services.
  • Experience and passion for producing clear, maintainable, and testable code using tools like React Testing Library and Playwright.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills to document, train, and mentor.
  • Experience working with Node and AWS lambda for backend services.
  • 10+ years of working experience.

We’d also love to see, though not required: 

  • Experience or knowledge of functional programming languages like Clojure, Elm, or Elixir
  • Educational or Ed-Tech background.

Benefits and Pay Range:

Pay Range – This role’s range is $110,500. - $196,500. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that Curriculum Associates considers in making compensation decisions based on our Compensation Philosophy. Actual base pay within that range will vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, prior experience and relevant skill sets. At Curriculum Associates, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances for each case. This role is also eligible to participate in the company bonus plan. The Company recognizes that minimum wage varies by location and will ensure all compensation decisions comply with applicable state and local laws.
