Position Overview

Compensation for this position is $67,000 to $77,000.

The anticipated start time frame for this position is February 2025.

This is currently a hybrid of in-person and virtual work, with an expectation of 2 days per week in the office plus occasional additional time on-site for fundraising events.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Institutional Giving supports our Development & Communications team, and collaborates frequently with City Year Headquarters teams. Apart of a team responsible for securing approximately $4M of private revenue annually, the Senior Manager of Institutional Giving will work closely with the entire City Year New York (CYNY) development & communications team, staff, corps, and boards to expand our revenue base with corporate and foundation partners. As a member of the Development team, the Senior Manager will oversee a developmental portfolio of current corporate and foundation partners and identify and secure new partnership funding to drive student impact through national service.

Job Description

Responsibilities 

Corporate Revenue, Strategy & Stewardship

  • Manage a developmental portfolio of existing corporate sponsors and secure their ongoing financial commitment to CYNY through customized Corporate Engagement (CE) touchpoints.  
  • Identify, engage, and cultivate a pipeline of corporate prospects that can make annual investments of $5,000-25,000. 
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Partnerships Manager to ensure that CE activations are well-planned and executed. 
  • Create tailored pitches and leverage senior leadership, the Advisory Board, and external champions to identify, connect with, and secure new mutually beneficial partnerships. 
  • Lead school site visits and calls with current and prospective corporate partners. 

Grants & Foundation Relations

  • Oversee a developmental portfolio of existing foundation funders and ensure that reporting and renewal requirements are met. 
  • Research and qualify prospective foundation funders. 
  • Write compelling grant narratives, reports, and Letters of Interest. 
  • Manage grant application submission processes, working closely across internal teams to ensure that all appropriate stakeholdersparticipate and, where needed, supply supporting documentation. 
  • Work closely with national and NYC Finance team to create project-specific budgets for grant applications. 
  • Work closely with the Senior Director of Site Analytics to report on outputs and outcomes for grant applications. 
  • Lead school site visits and calls with current and prospective foundation partners. 

Institutional Giving Team Management & Development Operations

  • Actively manage institutional portfolio and pipeline in Salesforce CRM. 
  • As needed, support the Senior Director of Institutional Giving, the Managing Director of Development & Communications, and the Executive Director with preparing materials for institutional donor solicitations, renewals, stewardship, and meetings. 
  • Support planning and execution of key initiatives such as the MLK Day of Service and Spring Gala, providing on-site support during the events. 
  • Send thank you notes and acknowledgment letters upon receipt of funding. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. 
  • 3+ years of fundraising experience, preferably for a non-profit or educational organization. 
  • Experience working with foundations and corporations, identifying prospects, and writing/submitting grant applications and reports. 
  • Base knowledge of all aspects of fundraising. 
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with internal and external partners. 
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills that engage and inspire a wide range of audiences. 
  • Excellent research and prospecting skills. 
  • Willingness to occasionally work irregular hours, such as early mornings, evenings, and weekends. 
  • Ability to adapt and excel in a wide-ranging, high-energy, entrepreneurial, and rapidly changing environment.
