About This Role
We're seeking an experienced IT Support Specialist to serve as our sole IT professional, ensuring our technology infrastructure remains secure, compliant, and optimized for our distributed team. This critical role combines traditional IT support with security leadership and compliance management, directly impacting our ability to protect sensitive student data while enabling seamless operations for our clinical and educational teams.
As our IT Support Specialist, you'll own the entire technology support ecosystem—from configuring school district integrations to managing security protocols that protect children's educational and health information. You'll be the guardian of our technical infrastructure, ensuring FERPA and COPPA compliance while providing exceptional support to team members across all departments.

Key Responsibilities
Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain security controls for FERPA, COPPA and ISO27001 compliance
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Manage identity and access management (IAM) across all platforms
- Develop and enforce least-privilege access policies
- Create and maintain security documentation and incident response procedures
- Lead security awareness training for all team members
- Coordinate with legal and compliance teams on data protection requirements
Technical Support & Infrastructure
- Provide remote technical support to 400+ distributed team members
- Configure and troubleshoot school district IT integrations (firewalls, SMTP, networking)
- Manage Google Workspace and other SaaS environments
- Oversee device management and compliance through MDM solutions
- Maintain internal IT documentation and knowledge base
- Handle escalated technical issues from customer-facing teams
System Administration & Monitoring
- Monitor application performance through Sentry and Datadog
- Manage feature flags and controlled rollouts via LaunchDarkly
- Perform database operations and data management tasks
- Analyze system logs to identify and resolve issues proactively
- Collaborate with engineering on bug reports and technical investigations
- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell and Python scripts
What We Need To See
Required Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of IT support experience, with at least 2 years in security/compliance roles
- Demonstrated experience with FERPA, COPPA, or ISO27001 compliance
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
- Experience managing distributed teams' IT needs remotely
- Proficiency in Windows, macOS, and mobile device management
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with networking, firewalls, and email systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Self-motivated with exceptional time management abilities
- Must be authorized to work in the US (we do not sponsor)
Required Technical Skills
