The Touchstone Grader (IT/Programming) position involves evaluating student work, providing feedback, and ensuring adherence to grading rubrics, all while achieving efficiency and quality goals in a remote environment.

Responsibilities: Graders will assess student submissions for accuracy, provide constructive feedback, complete grading rubrics, check for plagiarism, and participate in calibration efforts for grading consistency.

Skills: Candidates must demonstrate subject matter competency in IT/Programming, strong time management and communication skills, and proficiency with computer applications like Excel and PowerPoint.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required; a Master's degree is preferred. Teaching experience in IT/Programming is also necessary.

Location: This position is available in the United States and may require up to 10% travel.

Compensation: $19 - $29 / Hourly

Graders evaluate submitted student work for content, competency and adherence to the instructions and rubric. Graders are held to efficiency and quality goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Accurately read and measure student performance based against a grading rubric.
• Collaboratively work with the Lead for the course(s) to provide the student with constructive, supportive and concise feedback.
• Complete grading rubrics and leave detailed feedback and comments for the learner.
• Check student submissions for plagiarism and for grammar.
• Provide in-context feedback and scoring using the Sophia-provided rubric.
• Participate in calibration efforts to ensure consistency of quality for our learners.

Work Experience:

• Current or prior HS or Post-secondary teaching experience in IT/Programming.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required; Master’s degree is preferred.

• Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
• Typical office setting.
• Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor.
• Travel via plane, car, and metro may be required to perform this job.
• Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant.
• Access information using a computer.
• Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain.
• Effectively cope with stressful situations.
• Strong mental acuity.
• Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.
