Summary

Sr. Software Engineer (Full Stack) at McGraw Hill responsible for building innovative web-based learning tools used by millions of learners and educators. This remote role impacts the future of education by developing responsive, high-performance products within an agile, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities: Build web-based responsive learning tools and manage end-to-end product delivery including tech design, development, testing, and maintenance. Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and business teams to deliver products while managing the full software development life cycle with infrastructure and monitoring as code.
Skills & Tools: Proficiency required in Java, Spring, Angular or React, RESTful services, CI/CD pipelines, AWS services, Docker, and distributed caching. Additional expertise needed in observability platforms, responsive web design, and ability to work across frontend and backend layers with strong backend expertise.
Qualifications: Minimum 5+ years of software development experience with Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. Desirable knowledge of Terraform and experience building responsive, accessible, high-performance B2B and B2C products.
Location: Remote, United States; preference for East Coast Time Zone
Compensation: $124,350 – $160,000/year

This is a remote position available to candidates authorized to work for any employer in the United States, with a preference for those located in the East Coast Time Zone.

What you'll need to be successful?

  • 5+ years of experience is required in Java and any or most of the technologies below.

  • Observability
  • Product engineering background to support development of B2B and B2C products
  • Experience building responsive, accessible and high-performance web-based products
  • Experience with one or more observability platforms to monitor the health of the products
  • Ability and desire to work in various layers of software stack (front-end, backend). Backend expert with some front-end experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science
  • Experience with Terraform is desirable

The pay range for this position is between $124,350 - $160,000 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
