Summary

Lead preschool teacher in a Head Start program serving 3-5 year old children, responsible for delivering research-based early childhood education and positive behavioral support. Works collaboratively to create positive outcomes and eliminate achievement gaps for children of all abilities.

Key Responsibilities: Implement child-centered curriculum, manage classroom behavior and safety, create individualized learning experiences, document child progress through observations, and partner with families to support development across all domains. Supervise daily activities including meals, field trips, and outdoor play while maintaining consistent routines and integrating specialized education plans.
Skills & Tools: Strong knowledge of early childhood development, curriculum design, and behavioral support strategies; ability to observe and assess children's progress; collaborative communication with families and staff; culturally responsive teaching; and classroom management in diverse, inclusive settings.
Qualifications: P-3 Teacher Certification (CEAS or Standard) required; BA/BS in Early Childhood Education or related field with minimum six ECE courses; valid driver's license and reliable transportation; ability to travel locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time.

The Preschool Teacher - P-3 Certified is responsible for providing a range of instructional, assessment and positive behavioral support strategies to ensure educational excellence in a Head Start classroom for a maximum of fifteen 3–5-year-old children. The position works collaboratively with an assistant teacher, family members and other staff to achieve positive outcomes for children of all abilities. What You’ll Do: - Implements a child-centered curriculum and learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation to promote development in all domains for children of all abilities. - Addresses challenging behaviors by observing to determine possible causes of the behavior, implementing preventive measures, teaching the child new social and communication skills, and partnering with families to support the child at home. - Uses observations of children and anecdotal notes to document children’s progress and individualize curriculum. - Creates partnerships with families to establish positive interaction patterns in program, school, and home. - Provides classroom experiences that are developmentally, linguistically, culturally and age appropriate for the children served. - Provides a print rich environment in which children develop literacy, numeracy and social skills using increasingly complex language and problem-solving abilities. - Implements daily lesson plans in response to children’s needs and interests incorporating observations, anecdotal record keeping, knowledge of early childhood development and the key experiences. - Integrates Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for children with disabilities. - Provides children with a consistent classroom routine. - Provides supervision and ensures the safety and security of children at all times in accordance with Head Start and daycare licensing requirements. - Supervises and eats nutritionally prepared meals with the children as a curriculum activity, to model good nutrition and proper social skills for preschool children. - Supervises all classroom field trips and outdoor activities. - Assesses children on an on-going basis, which includes gathering and organizing anecdotal notes into the key domains and documents for Creative Curriculum. -Analyzes child outcomes on classroom basis twice yearly, consults with education coordinator, and adjusts curriculum planning and implementation as needed. What You’ll Bring: 1. P-3 Teacher Certification (CEAS or Standard). 2. BA/BS in Early Childhood Education or BA/BS in related field with at least six (6) courses in ECE. 3. Physical exam and background checks are required for this position. 4. Travel required locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions. 5. Must have a valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation. How Much: This is a 10-month position that pays $59,127 and $73,575 annually depending on education and experience.
