Summary

Software Engineer Intern at OCLC (May-August 2025) developing new features and enhancements for library technology services used by thousands of institutions worldwide. Interns work alongside experienced developers to translate requirements into production code.

Key Responsibilities: Design, code, and test software modules while developing new features and enhancing existing user interfaces for OCLC library services. Participate in unit and system testing, analyze problems in existing systems, and assist in requirements development.
Skills & Tools: Strong coding skills in Java, problem-solving, analytical thinking, and written/verbal communication. Experience with J2EE, XML/JSON, TestNG/JUnit, Groovy, Angular, React, database design, and AI is desirable.
Qualifications: Degree-seeking college Junior or Senior majoring in Computer Science or related field with completion of first-level engineering courses. AI experience preferred.
Location: Dublin, Ohio, United States (Corporate Office)
Compensation: Estimated: $20 – $28/hour based on summer internship role, location, and company tier

The Job Details are as follows:

We are seeking a Software Engineer Intern for a summer technical internship program. Dates for the internship will be from May 19, 2025, to August 8, 2025, working full time during the summer hours. This role will perform software development tasks commensurate with skills and experience. Develop new features for OCLC members. Modify existing software such as enhancing user interface

Responsibilities:

  • Intern will be part of an experienced team of software developers who frequently release enhancements and new products for use by OCLC libraries and will see their work used in production services.
  • Use industry standard programming techniques to translate requirements and designs into code.
  • Analyze and solve problems in existing systems.
  • Design, code, and test multiple modules of a system in a timely manner.
  • Participates in unit, system, and acceptance testing by designing tests, building test data, test execution and evaluation, along with recommending/making improvements/fixes to the tested system.
  • Assists in developing and interpreting requirements.

Requirements:

  • AI experience
  • Degree-seeking college student enrolled as Junior or Senior pursuing major in Computer Science or related degree.
  • Completion of first-level engineering courses.
  • Coding skills in Java highly desirable. Experience with J2EE, XML/JSON, TestNG/JUnit, Groovy, scripting (e.g. Perl, JavaScript), Angular, or React a plus.
  • Understanding of Database design principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytic skills.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment.
  • AI experience preferred
