The Opportunity

We’re looking for a highly analytical, technically fluent, and business-savvy individual to be the founding member of our Finance Analytics team at Grammarly. This role sits within Finance but functions at the intersection of Finance, Data Science, Analytics Engineering, Product, and GTM. You will be responsible for surfacing the key metrics that define the health of our business, interpreting what’s behind the numbers, and communicating those insights regularly to our CFO and senior leadership team.

This role is ideal for someone who writes SQL in their sleep but also knows how to tell a story that moves a room. You will use advanced analytics to drive strategic decision-making, provide insights into our subscription-based business model, help optimize cloud spend, and support financial forecasting.

This is not a back-office data role. It’s a front-line leadership opportunity to shape how we run our business and build our product. You’ll have a direct line to the CEO & CFO, with influence at the highest levels, and access to some of the most interesting questions in our company. If you want to help a scaling company in a generation-defining market make smarter, faster, data-driven decisions, this is your seat at the table.

In this role, you will:

  • Establish the foundation of a technical analytics team within Finance at Grammarly, creating processes and best practices.
  • Partner with FP&A teams to develop predictive models, support financial planning and forecasting, optimize cloud spend, and model unit economics.
  • Drive the company’s analytical narrative and priorities, partnering closely across FP&A, Data Science, and other XFN analytical partners to shape the leadership team’s mental model for how our business works.
  • Create and maintain data products and reporting systems that provide actionable insights to leadership.
  • Partner with Analytics Engineering to develop scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support financial analytics.
  • Partner with Data Science to analyze user behavior, conversion funnels, feature adoption, and other product KPIs to inform business strategy.
  • Lead a high-visibility cadence with senior leadership, surfacing actionable insights.
  • Design and own core metric definitions in partnership with the Data org.
  • Help shape the data culture of the company — from metric hygiene to storytelling fluency.

Qualifications

  • Experience in product analytics, business intelligence, or data-driven roles in SaaS or tech companies.
  • Fluency in SQL and one or more analytical tools/languages like Python or R.
  • Experience working closely with product teams, engineers, and data engineers.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to see around corners.
  • Exceptional communication skills — both written and verbal — with a knack for turning numbers into narrative.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, whether through formal management or cross-functional influence.
  • A deep curiosity and energy for pulling the thread on hard questions.
  • Experience in turning open questions and data into concise and insightful analysis.
  • Embodies our EAGER values—is ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, and remarkable.
  • Is inspired by our MOVE principles: move fast and learn faster; obsess about creating customer value; value impact over activity; and embrace healthy disagreement rooted in trust.
