Summary

Information Security Intern role supporting OCLC's mission to connect libraries globally through technology. The intern will conduct security and privacy scans, recommend controls, and contribute to strengthening detection capabilities across the organization.

Key Responsibilities: Execute security and privacy scans following established procedures, analyze results to recommend corrective actions and controls, and produce monthly summary reports with process improvement suggestions. Share findings and lessons learned with the team to enhance detection capabilities.
Skills & Tools: Working knowledge of information security standards (OWASP, ISO 2700x, NIST 800-53, FedRAMP), understanding of application/network/OS/infrastructure security concepts, and strong organizational and communication abilities. Requires problem-solving, teamwork, creativity, and ability to manage multiple initiatives under pressure.
Qualifications: AI experience preferred; general understanding of key information security standards and guidelines required. No specific degree mandated, but strong fundamentals in security concepts and demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively expected.
Location: Corporate Office - Dublin, United States of America
Compensation: Estimated: $18.00 – $22.00/hour based on information security internship role, full-time summer with part-time continuation, and Dublin, Ohio location

The Job Details are as follows:


Intern

We are seeking an Information Security Intern for our internship program. Dates for the internship will be from May 19, 2025, to April 24, 2026, working full time during the summer hours and part-time (up to 15 hours) the rest of the year. 


Responsibilities

  • Run various security and privacy scans based on established procedures and processes.
  • Suggest improvements for scan processes based on experience and feedback from other team members.
  • Recommend security or privacy controls and corrective actions based on observation or scan results.
  • Share lessons learned, initial indicators of detection, and opportunities for strengthening detection capabilities.
  • Produce monthly summary reports based on established procedures.
  • Suggest improvements to monthly reporting based on observation and experience.

Qualifications

  • AI experience
  • Working knowledge of key information security related standards or guidelines, like OWASP, ISO 2700x series, Data Security and Privacy Acts, NIST 800-53, UK Security Essentials, and/or FedRAMP
  • General understanding of application, network, operating system, and core infrastructure security concepts
  • Organization and planning: Ability to understand and determine priorities, effectively manage time, and develop work plans to accomplish tasks and/or projects
  • Judgment and decision making: Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
  • Innovation and creativity: Ability to generate and translate ideas and adapt to change
  • Teamwork: Ability to effectively participate and contribute as a member of a work group; ability to lead or follow others as appropriate to most effectively accomplish the goal or task at hand
