Summary
Senior Software Engineer at Western Governors University leading the design, development, and implementation of software systems to expand access to higher education. The role involves mentoring junior engineers and ensuring quality project delivery in a mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities: Research, design, development, analysis, testing, and implementation of software systems while mentoring junior engineers and maintaining documentation. Communicate project status to stakeholders, lead cross-functional teams, identify technical risks, and ensure on-time, on-budget, on-scope delivery.
Skills & Tools: Expert-level proficiency in Java, web services, Agile methodologies, and software development principles with strong communication and problem-solving abilities. Experience with IntelliJ, JIRA, Git, and cloud-native development is preferred.
Qualifications: Master's or PhD in Computer Science or related field is preferred with demonstrated expertise in software engineering leadership. Familiarity with higher education systems is a plus.
Location: Hybrid in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States (no remote work allowed)
Compensation: $140,200 – $217,200/year
