Summary

Virtual math and reading tutor for K–12 students delivering small-group instruction via Zoom to help build student understanding, confidence, and love of learning. Part-time role (up to 6 hours/week) running February 2 through May 15, 2026.

Key Responsibilities: Deliver 30–60 minute virtual tutoring sessions to groups of up to 5 students using high-quality digital curriculum and student learning data. Create inclusive learning environments, apply research-informed instructional practices, and communicate professionally with students and staff.
Skills & Tools: Proficiency with Zoom and strong technical setup (reliable computer and high-speed internet); expertise in research-informed instructional practices including the Science of Reading and inquiry-based mathematics instruction; ability to create positive, inclusive learning environments.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education or related field strongly preferred; experience teaching or tutoring small groups of students; ability to complete ink fingerprinting in the U.S. with valid Social Security Number.
Location: Remote, USA only
Compensation: $25/hour base rate + end-of-program bonus equivalent to $35/hour total compensation for hours worked (contingent on completing assignment through May 15, 2026)

This assignment includes a special bonus structure that brings total compensation for hours worked to the equivalent of $35/hour. Tutors are paid their regular hourly rate of $25/hour throughout the program, and the bonus is issued after the assignment concludes, contingent on completing this assignment through May 15, 2026.

Job Description

Cignition is seeking experienced K–12 virtual tutors to support small-group instruction in mathematics and/or English Language Arts. Tutors play a key role in helping students build understanding, confidence, and a lasting love of learning. You will work closely with our Program Management team to deliver engaging instruction using a high-quality digital curriculum and student learning data.

Role Structure for This Assignment

  • Part-time role, typically up to 6 hours per week
  • Recurring tutoring sessions between 2:45 pm–4:40 pm PT / 5:45 pm–7:40 pm ET on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from February 2, 2026, to May 15, 2026
  • 30–60 minute sessions, 3 times each week
  • Tutors work with the same group(s) of students throughout the program
  • Schedules and rosters are assigned based on district needs, and remain consistent throughout the program
  • Additional assignments in other programs may be available at the $25/hour pay rate, with no bonus

Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Weekday availability between 2:45 pm–4:40 pm PT / 5:45 pm–7:40 pm ET
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field strongly preferred
  • Experience teaching or tutoring small groups of students
  • Familiarity with research-informed instructional practices, including the Science of Reading and conceptual, inquiry-based approaches for mathematics
  • Ability to complete ink fingerprinting in the U.S. (Note: You must have a valid U.S. Social Security Number.)
  • Proficient in using Zoom
  • Reliable computer and high-speed internet
  • Strong belief in every student's ability to succeed

Pay & Bonus

  • Total compensation equivalent to $35/hour for this assignment
  • Tutors are paid a base rate of $25/hour throughout the program. At the end of the assignment, tutors receive an end-of-program bonus that brings their total compensation for hours worked to the equivalent of $35/hour for this assignment
  • The bonus is paid after the assignment concludes and is contingent upon completing this assignment through May 15, 2026.
