Summary

Staff Accountant position at Curriculum Associates responsible for monthly accounting operations, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial compliance. This role supports the accounting team in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring adherence to US GAAP standards.

Key Responsibilities: Reconcile balance sheet accounts, prepare month-end journal entries, conduct variance analyses, process ERP requisitions, and support external auditors with detailed schedules and analysis. Collaborate with business partners to ensure accurate transaction recording and assist with special projects and process improvements.
Skills & Tools: Strong proficiency in MS Excel for data analysis and presentation, excellent communication skills, understanding of US GAAP, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, integrity, and capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent; understanding of U.S. GAAP required. Finance internship experience and CPA certification are preferred but not required.

Curriculum Associates is looking to hire a detail-oriented and dedicated Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team. This position will be based out of Billerica under a hybrid schedule. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monthly journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, fluctuation analysis, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

The impact you’ll have:

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts including prepaids, accrued expenses, and other assets.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries.
  • Conduct monthly balance sheet, income statement and budget variance analyses.
  • Review ERP requisitions and process approvals.
  • Ensure financial compliance with US GAAP and internal policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with business partners for accurate transaction understanding and recording.
  • Support external auditors with providing detailed schedules, test selections and analysis.
  • Assist with special projects and process improvements.

What we're looking for:

  • Competence with MS Excel, particularly the ability to sort, filter, and pivot data for the purpose of analysis and presentation of conclusions.
  • Strong communicator - be able to retrieve accurate, timely, and concise information from individuals outside of finance who are not within your area of influence.
  • Understanding the importance of working as a member of a team and possessing willingness to achieve shared goals.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting.
  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills. Experience with Workday is a plus but not required.
  • Strong problem-solving and analysis skills.
  • Ability and readiness to embrace change.
  • High-level of integrity along with the ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Hard working and detail oriented.
  • Internship within a Finance organization is a plus but not required.
  • CPA is preferred but not required.

Benefits and Pay Range:

Pay Range – This role’s range is $51,250 - $84,250 The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that Curriculum Associates considers in making compensation decisions based on our Compensation Philosophy. Actual base pay within that range will vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, prior experience and relevant skill sets. At Curriculum Associates, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances for each case. This role is also eligible to participate in the company bonus plan. The Company recognizes that minimum wage varies by location and will ensure all compensation decisions comply with applicable state and local laws.
