Summary

Supervising Content Developer at Benchmark Education Company who manages the development of educational content products from concept through publication, coordinating with internal teams, vendors, and freelancers. This role ensures content quality, adherence to guidelines, and timely delivery of literacy and language resources.

Key Responsibilities: Coordinate content development across multiple projects, manage vendor relationships and budgets, review and approve manuscripts and production stages, and incorporate feedback from cross-functional teams. Support sales and marketing initiatives, maintain documentation, and communicate workflow status to leadership.
Skills & Tools: Superior writing, editing, and project management abilities with intermediate-advanced MS Office proficiency and preferred Adobe Creative Suite knowledge. Must demonstrate excellent communication, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a collaborative environment.
Qualifications: 7–10 years of managerial experience developing educational materials for a publisher, plus a bachelor's degree in Education or related field. Up-to-date knowledge of language, literacy, and content issues in educational publishing required.
Location: Remote from Florida, United States
Compensation: Estimated: $72,000 – $92,000/year based on supervisory role, 7–10 years experience, educational publishing sector, and Florida remote position

Job Description

Position Purpose:

Work with the Senior Content Creation staff to manage the development of Core and supplemental products, from concept stage through publication. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with content developers as well as vendors and freelance writers in developing content to ensure that project goals and content guidelines are observed
  • Assist in the creation of budgets for new projects and managing vendors to stay within budgetary requirements
  • Attend regularly scheduled status meetings to report on workflow and content issues
  • Consult with all project team members
  • Review and approve manuscript and production stages, working directly with content developers, assistant content developers, copyeditors, graphic designers, and photo researchers
  • Incorporate feedback (based on defined review stages) from Sales & Marketing, Professional Development, Content Creation management, and outside reviewers and consultants
  • Create or update Product Library documentation
  • Communicate with Sales & Marketing to support the development of sales support tools
  • Complete Product Data Management entry based on defined workflow milestones

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate editorial with production schedules and needs in order to meet project goals and deadlines
  • Support Sales and Marketing by reviewing pullouts, space ads, pre-pub flyers, and other sales support tools for accuracy and completeness
  • Read professional journals to increase market and pedagogical knowledge
  • Complete time tracking documentation on a weekly basis

Job Requirements/Skills and Experience:

  • 7-10 years of managerial experience in developing materials for an educational publisher. 
  • University/College degree in Education or related field.
  • Superior writing, editing and project management skills
  • Up-to-date knowledge of language, literacy and content issues
  • Intermediate-Advanced proficiency, MS Office
  • Basic proficiency, Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
  • Ability to manage several projects concurrently
  • Flexible in adjusting to changing needs and schedules 
  • Able to work collaboratively with other departments (e.g., design and marketing) 
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
