Position Summary:
StrongMind is looking for Independent Contactors with an expertise in middle school science instruction. Candidates should be subject matter experts that have a strong knowledge of pedagogy and NGSS and Arizona science standards.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Utilize subject matter expertise to review and evaluate curriculum, including content, assessments, and projects, for quality in pedagogy as well as alignment to standards and objectives.
- Ensure assessments match objectives and material in the assessments is covered in content.
- Review and ensure instructional design and appropriate pedagogy in content to ensure students can be successful and engaged.
- Work within specified deadlines as outlined in Statement of Work (SOW).
Skills, Abilities, and Expectations:
- Full understanding of standards, including the knowledge of how to break standards into objectives that accurately scaffold skills to allow the student to reach mastery.
- Subject-matter expertise in middle school science preferred. High school science expertise is also acceptable.
- Ability to devote approximately 10 – 15 hours per week for 4-8 weeks as set forth in Statement of Work (SOW).
- Knowledge of pedagogy, learning theory, rubrics, statistics, and psychometrics.
- Understanding of backward design.
- Communicates both verbally and in written form in a clear professional manner that positively impacts workflow.
- Prioritizes work and handles multiple tasks while working independently to meet deadlines.
- Basic knowledge of how to effectively use graphics and multimedia in online learning environments.
- Able to quickly learn and use the software tools required by the given task.
Education/Training Required:
- A bachelor’s degree in education or science
- Minimum 2 years teaching experience in middle school science
- Previous experience in development of online curriculum preferred.
