Summary

Operations Analyst IV at Nelnet supports Consumer Loans back-office teams through advanced data analysis, reporting, and process improvement projects. The role leverages data-driven insights to enhance operational efficiency and deliver strategic value to leadership.

Key Responsibilities: Create, update, and maintain business reports; analyze and evaluate business systems and user needs; manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines. Conduct problem-solving analysis, document processes and procedures, and participate in Consumer Loans improvement projects and initiatives.
Skills & Tools: Advanced SQL and database query skills; proficiency with Crystal Reports and Snowflake reporting tools; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Additional competencies include project management, business math, critical thinking, oral and written communication, and familiarity with Agile methodology, Jira, and Confluence.
Qualifications: Preferred 4-year college degree with 3-4 years of experience in analytics, student loan, technical, problem-solving, or project management roles. Requires beginning understanding of SQL, strong analytical skills, and experience with Crystal Reports; some project management experience preferred.

Position focused on supporting Consumer Loans back-office teams through data-driven project execution and strategic analysis. Utilizes advanced data skills to extract, interpret, and analyze complex datasets, delivering actionable insights and recommendations to enhance processes. Proactively supports leadership needs while driving value through automation, continuous improvement, and effective communication of findings.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create/Update/Maintain reports for business needs.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs.
  • Manage multiple conflicting priorities & consistently meet deadlines.
  • Capable of communicating and negotiating effectively with all levels of users and management
  • Work with other analysts and management to conduct analysis and solve problems regarding routine & chronic problems.
  • Interpret and translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications and work plans for other Team members.
  • Utilized as a subject matter expert for repeatable process.  
  • Acquire knowledge in systems and processes.
  • create and maintain the documentation for system functionality, processes, and procedures.
  • Participate in and facilitate Consumer Loan projects to make improvements within departments.
  • Actively participate in projects/initiatives with leadership team
  • Support training and advanced analytic workshops as required.
  • Learn basics of and participate in CPI projects.
  • Commit to Performance Based Organization (PBO) & Easy to Do Business with (ETDBW) philosophy.  

EDUCATION:

4-year college degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:


Advanced experience with database concepts and simple query language (SQL)


Must have strong analytical skills to solve complex issues in a timely manner alongside an understanding of investment process flows required.


3-4 years of experience in an analytical, student loan, technical, problem-solving or project management position.  


Some experience with report writing tools – Crystal reports (Business Objects) required


Some experience with project management on small to medium projects preferred

Pay range for this position is $43,672.39 - $82,087.14 annually.
