Summary

Financial analyst will join the FP&A team at Benchmark Education Company to support all aspects of financial planning and analysis, including monthly reporting, budgeting, and strategic initiatives. The role goes beyond periodic processes to derive key business insights and directly impact the business through process automation and technology implementation.

Key Responsibilities: Lead monthly/quarterly/annual closing processes, generate financial statements, manage deferred revenues and revenue allocations, and conduct scenario analyses. Prepare financial presentations, assist with audits, and support ad-hoc projects while partnering with the accounting team.
Skills & Tools: Strong analytical, critical thinking, and quantitative skills with excellent technical accounting knowledge and the ability to see beyond numbers to understand business impact. Demonstrated proficiency in multi-tasking, fast-paced environments, attention to detail, strong communication, and comfort with ERP systems and process automation.
Qualifications: BA/BS degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, or related field with 2+ years of finance or accounting experience demonstrating a track record of success. Experience with a leading accounting firm and CPA certification are strongly preferred, with NetSuite experience a plus.
Location: New Rochelle, New York, United States (Hybrid)
Compensation: $60,000 – $75,000/year

Job Description

*This position is on our hybrid schedule at our New Rochelle office.

Position Purpose: Financial analyst will join the FP&A team and assist with all aspects of financial planning and analysis function, including monthly reporting, companywide budgeting and analyses as well as other ad-hoc activities. The ideal candidate enjoys problem solving, is highly motivated and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. However, the role goes beyond periodic financial processes. We are looking for a highly analytical person to derive key insights and directly impact the business and support key initiatives. The candidate should find excitement in technology implementation and continuously look to increase efficiency through process automation. This hire will become an integral member of the finance team. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with company-wide financial planning, budgeting and forecasting
  • Lead the monthly/quarterly/annual closing process, assisting in generating financial statements and MD&A, partnering with the accounting team
  • Manage, monitor, reconcile, and report on deferred revenues and revenue allocations
  • Conduct scenario analyses to derive key business insights 
  • Prepare financial presentations and summary analyses
  • Assist with the audit process
  • Evaluate and conduct ERP system improvements
  • Lead and support Ad hoc projects

Job Requirements

  • 2 years of finance or accounting experience, demonstrating track record of success and excellent technical skills
  • Strong accounting background, ideally with a leading accounting firm is a strong plus
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and quantitative skills 
  • Critical thinker, with ability to see beyond the numbers and understand the big picture
  • Comfortable with multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to deliver high quality work under pressure
  • Fast learner, willing to take on all challenging tasks 
  • Detail oriented
  • CPA preferred 
  • NetSuite experience preferred
  • Great communication skills
  • BA/BS degree in business, finance, accounting, economics or related field

Salary Range: $60,000-$75,000

*The base salary range represents the low and high end of the expected salary range for the position. The base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors such as geographic location, experience, education, and skill level.
