Job Description

About Minga

At Minga, we’re creating the Student Behavior Platform schools can’t imagine running without. We’re on a mission to make school life run smoother and have fun while we’re at it.

We’re a tight-knit team of curious, creative, and low-ego humans who genuinely enjoy working together. We care deeply about the work we do and the people we do it with, and that shows up in how we lead, collaborate, and celebrate.

Our culture is built on trust, ownership, and continuous learning. Whether you’re working from our Kelowna HQ or remotely, you’ll have the autonomy to do your best work, the support to grow, and the opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of educators and students.

The Role

We’re not just hiring for a position; we’re adding a teammate who will help shape Minga’s growth trajectory. As Director of Business Development & Strategic Alliances, you’ll report directly to the CEO and own our partnership strategy from end to end.

This is an individual contributor role with high impact—you’ll identify, negotiate, and manage strategic alliances that drive revenue, expand our reach, and deepen our value to schools. You will be responsible for building and managing a robust pipeline across three critical pillars: Go-to-Market (GTM), Technology Integrations, and M&A.

What You’ll Do

  • Strategic Pipeline Development: Build and maintain an active pipeline of potential partners categorized by strategic value:
  • GTM Partnerships: Identify partners to co-sell or refer Minga, accelerating our entry into new schools and districts through shared trust and established relationships.
  • Technology Partnerships: Source integration opportunities that create a more holistic "all-in-one" experience for schools while opening doors for cross-selling.
  • M&A Opportunities: Identify and vet companies that align with Minga’s long-term vision for potential acquisition and full platform integration.
  • Roadmap Execution: Develop and execute a strategic partnerships roadmap aligned with Minga’s growth objectives.
  • Deal Negotiation: Lead the end-to-end process of identifying, negotiating, and closing high-value deals with EdTech providers and service partners.
  • Program Scaling: Establish and scale partner programs, including onboarding, enablement, and performance measurement to ensure ROI.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate closely with Product (for technical integrations), Sales (for GTM alignment), and Finance/Leadership (for M&A vetting).
  • Relationship Management: Build and nurture long-term relationships with C-level and senior stakeholders at partner organizations.
  • Market Intelligence: Continuously analyze market trends, competitor alliances, and emerging tech to inform our "Buy vs. Build vs. Partner" strategy.

What We Require

  • 7+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or corporate development, ideally in SaaS, EdTech, or B2B environments.
  • Proven track record of sourcing, negotiating, and closing high-impact deals, including experience with complex technical integrations or M&A.
  • Strategic Breadth: Deep understanding of various revenue models, from referral and co-selling to OEM and acquisition.
  • Exceptional Communication: Ability to influence C-suite stakeholders and represent Minga’s brand with authority.
  • Startup Agility: Ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment while reporting directly to the CEO.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Experience aligning internal Product and Sales teams with external partner requirements.

Who You Are

  • A Builder & Hunter: You love the thrill of identifying a gap in the market and finding the perfect partner to fill it.
  • A Strategic Thinker: You don't just look for "logos"; you look for synergies that provide a "1 + 1 = 3" value proposition for schools.
  • Analytically Minded: You can evaluate an M&A target or a technical integration not just on "vibes," but on data, market fit, and scalability.
  • Curious & Adaptable: You ask the right questions, listen deeply, and can pivot your strategy as the EdTech landscape evolves.
